End Sexism In Schools (‘the Charity’) is a grassroots charity working for a UK education system that is free of sexism and that allows all children to fulfil their potential.
Drawing on the network of the former Women’s Equality Party, End Sexism in Schools was set up as an independent, non-political, grassroots group in October 2020. As it grew, End Sexism in Schools sought charity status .
The Charity is small but growing, registering as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (‘CIO’) with the Charities Commission on 1 October 2024.
Objectives and Activities
Objectives
The Charity’s objectives are: to promote equality and diversity within the UK education and school system for the public benefit by eliminating discrimination, sex and gender bias within the UK educations system; 2. To advance education and raising awareness on sex and gender discrimination and bias within the UK education system; 3. To conduct or commission research on equality and diversity issues; and 4. To cultivate a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity within the UK education system.
End Sexism in Schools believe that schools should be an environment without sexism – where pupils are:

free from gender-limiting stereotypes and expectations

free from sexual harassment and violence.
Many schools are institutions in which sexist norms and stereotypes are perpetuated and reinforced. The majority of girls experience some form of sexual harassment and violence during their school life. The lack of a gender balanced curriculum has been the primary focus of the Charity’s work to date. It results in school leavers being frequently unaware of the historic, structural inequalities and discrimination that affect all women.
That’s why we are working towards our goal to End Sexism in Schools, to break this cycle for future generations – both women and men.
Activities undertaken to meet our objectives
End Sexism in Schools has undertaken a number of activities in the financial year to meet our objectives.
These include, but are not limited to; researching and publishing an update on the invisibility of women in English GCSEs (2024 exams), researching and publishing a new history research report in collaboration with author Kate Mosse, and starting a new subgroup to develop research in Sport with an aim to publish in late 2026. Charity volunteers have spoken at Education Conferences UK, taught on teacher training courses, participated in relevant podcasts and contributed evidence to the Government’s Curriculum and Assessment Review launched in July 2024.
The Charity has also sought to improve its governance structure, refreshed trustees and reduced its annual cost base.
Going forward, the Charity looks to continue to grow its volunteer, supporter and patron networks.
Financial Review and Sources of Funds
End Sexism In School started the year with £nil in reserves and had unrestricted reserves in the form of a cash balance of £6,388 as at 30 September 2025. These funds will be used to further support the Charity’s efforts to their cause.
All amounts are included in the receipts and payments account on cash basis i.e. on date of receipt or payment in the period respectively.
The charity’s principal source of funds in the current period is from donations. The majority of which were contributed by the Women's Equality Party in the year to 30 September 2025. Other amounts comprise donations from individuals.
Principal Risks
The trustees have considered that there are no material financial risks or liabilities and concluded that End Sexism In Schools remains a going concern.
The trustees are not aware of any material risks to activities for the same period.
Structure, Governance and Management
Our governing document is the Trust Deed made on 01 October 2024.
Respective Responsibilities of Trustees
The Charity is required to prepare in respect of each financial year, a financial statement of accounts under Part 8 of the Charities Act 2011, as amended by the Charities Act 2022 (the ‘Act’).
The Charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. As the Charity is a CIO and its annual income does not exceed £250,000, a receipts and payments account has been prepared for the financial year to 30 September 2025 in accordance with section 133 of the Act.
The Charity’s trustees consider that no audit is required in respect of the financial year to 30 September 2025 under section 144(2) of the Act.
Further, as the annual income in the financial year does not exceed £25,000, no independent examination has been undertaken in accordance with section 145(1) of the Act.
