## **Trustees Report 2024-2025** 

This report details the activities of The Bemrose School Charitable Association along with the financial statements for the financial year ending 31[st] August 2025. It has been prepared in accordance with the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) requirements in preparing charity accounts. 



## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Bemrose School Charitable Association was established and registered with The Charity Commission on 23[rd] September 2024 to advance the education of the pupils at The Bemrose School. The charity has a constitution as its governing document and is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation. The charity raises funds through various means such as holding fundraising events and receiving donations/grants. It operates independently but works closely with The Bemrose School. 

The charity must have at least 3 trustees with a maximum of 15 trustees. New trustees must be appointed by a resolution passed at a meeting of trustees. The charity chair cannot serve for more than 3 years but may be reappointed after a one-year break. 

All trustees give their time freely and no trustees received remuneration in the year. 

## **Objectves and Actvites** 

The objective and charitable purpose of The Bemrose School Charitable Association is to advance the education of the pupils at The Bemrose School, Derby by providing and assisting in the provision of inspirational school visits, facilities, school trips and equipment not required to be provided by the local education authority for education at the school. The charity achieves this by holding fundraising events, receiving donations and applying for grants which allows the charity to fund the above provisions. 

As a newly formed charity, the trustees focused on establishing fundraising events and building support for the charity. In the 2024-2025 reporting year, we held a Quiz Night and planned for a Race Night which we had to reschedule into the next reporting year. 

The charity exists for the public benefit as we support pupils of The Bemrose School by providing funds to allow them to attend educational trips/school visits which they would not normally have access to. There is no membership fee for the school and there is no fee/charge to receive support from the charity. It is accessible to all pupils at The Bemrose School. When we organise our events, we decide if any ticket fee should be applied and the events are open to anyone who wants to attend – there are no restrictions on who can attend the events. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

During the reporting period, we received multiple donations from various donors, some which are regular monthly donations, some which are one off donations, some Gift Aid payments and some from the Just Giving page. 

We have held 1 successful fundraising event during the reporting period which was our first Quiz Night. We started preparing for a Race Night and sold some tickets/sold some race sponsors, but this event was rescheduled to another date in the next reporting year. 



With the funds raised, we were able to support our first project, which is Bemrose Top Sports. This is a project which aims to support talented pupils to provide them with sports coaching, sessions and opportunities to try various sports not offered in the curriculum. This has helped to build the pupils confidence and has given them a sense of pride in their Top Sport status and has enabled them to experience a variety of sports, including dodgeball, climbing, padel and golfing. 

## **Financial Review** 

We started the 2024-2025 reporting year with £350 income and ended the year with £11,665 income. 

In the 2024-2025 reporting year, we have received £488 in donations from alumni of the school and £1097 raised from a Quiz Night and a Race Night which we had to reschedule into the next reporting year. The Governors of The Bemrose School agreed to pay £4110 into the charity, made up of School Fund bank interest accrued and historic funds raised for educational trips which did not go ahead. £2588 of this money is restricted funds, only to be used for educational trips. The rest of the funds are unrestricted. 

The charity paid out £336 in costs for fundraising events (food/drinks/glassware etc) and paid out £2344 to support Bemrose Top Sports, which is the first project supported by the charity. It is a project to help keep talented pupils in sports by offering them the opportunity to experience various sports not offered in the curriculum. The charity has helped by paying for the trips/coaching/transport to allow these trips to happen. 

The accounts are attached. Our bank statements and bank transactions have been reviewed by an independent person to confirm they are a true reflection of the receipts and payments for the charity over the financial reporting year. 

We have no formal reserves policy. Money accumulated from fundraising events in the bank account during the year is rolled over into the next financial year to continue to provide funds for the bids received from the school.
