Structure, Governance and Management

The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by its constitution. The trustees are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the charity and for ensuring that it operates in accordance with its charitable objects and relevant legislation.

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the governing document. All trustees serve on a voluntary basis and receive no remuneration for their services. During the reporting period, trustees met as required to oversee the establishment of the charity, ensure compliance with Charity Commission requirements, and plan future activities.

Objectives and Activities

Objects

The objects of the CIO are:

The relief of financial hardship for the public benefit, anywhere in the world, in particular but not exclusively through the provision of grants for health and wellbeing counselling, including health checks and health education sessions, humanitarian aid and support; funding for educational courses and materials and vocational training.

Activities during the year

The charity was established during the reporting period and is therefore in its initial development phase. During this first year, trustees focused on:

• Establishing governance and operational foundations

• Ensuring compliance with Charity Commission requirements

• Developing an understanding of need within the communities the charity intends to support

Due to the charity being newly formed and not yet having secured external funding, the delivery of grant-making and direct charitable services had not commenced during the reporting period.

Public Benefit

The trustees have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and are satisfied that the charity’s objects are carried out for the public benefit.

In line with this duty, trustees undertook initial needs assessment activity to better understand unmet need. During the year, the charity conducted a survey exploring access to outdoor exercise and play opportunities for disabled children in the London Boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley. The findings indicated a lack of sufficient opportunities for outdoor physical activity and inclusive play for this group, highlighting a clear area of unmet need linked to health, wellbeing, and social inclusion.

The trustees consider that this work supports the charity’s public benefit aims by ensuring that future activities and funding applications are evidence-based and responsive to identified need.

Achievements and Performance

Although the charity did not deliver funded services during the reporting period, the trustees consider the following to be key achievements:

• Successful registration of the charity as a CIO

• Appointment of a trustee board and establishment of governance arrangements

• Development of initial policies and procedures

• Completion of a needs assessment survey to inform future service delivery

• Identification of priority areas for future charitable activity, particularly in relation to improving health and wellbeing outcomes for disabled children

These activities have laid the groundwork for future delivery and funding applications.

Financial Review

The charity did not receive any grant income or donations during the reporting period. Expenditure was minimal and limited to essential start-up and administrative costs, where applicable and covered out of pocket by trustees.

The trustees have taken a prudent approach to financial management and are committed to ensuring that any future funds received are used solely in furtherance of the charity’s objects.

Risk Management

The trustees have identified the principal risks facing the charity, including:

• The inability to secure funding to commence charitable activities

• Delays in delivering services due to limited resources

To mitigate these risks, trustees have focused on building a strong evidence base, including needs assessment work, and plan to pursue grant funding and partnership opportunities in the next reporting period.

Plans for the Future

In the coming year, the trustees intend to:

• Apply for grant funding and other sources of income

• Use survey findings to design pilot activities aligned with the charity’s objects

• Develop partnerships with local organisations and stakeholders

• Progress from planning and consultation to the delivery of charitable activities

The trustees remain committed to advancing the charity’s aims and delivering meaningful public benefit.
