Activities
The Leonberger Genetic (LeoGen) Diversity Project aims to achieve increased diversity in the breed through a sequence of careful outcrossing, rotational crossing between participating breeder teams, and back crossing again to strong typical Leonberger lines. Out-crossing, or out-breeding, is the technique of breeding one breed with another breed to bring in something new from the other breed.
Objects: For The Public Benefit Of Advancement Of Animal Welfare And Prevention Of Increased Suffering In Pedigree Dogs (initially Leonbergers) Through:(1) Targeted Genetic Management In Breeding Practises; And (2) Educating, Sharing And Disseminating Knowledge And Best Practice Regarding The Breeding Of Leonberger’s And Other Pedigree Dogs, For The Public Benefit.
