**Rugby Heritage Lions Club (CIO)**

## Trustees Report 2024-25

Rugby Heritage Lions Club was chartered in August 2024 with its purposes being:

- To be a ‘service-oriented’ club that focuses on physically serving the community of Rugby and the surrounding area

- To raise funds that are used primarily in support of local charitable causes

- To support the wider Lions International causes where possible and appropriate.

Our Trustees are:

Ralph Watson (Club President) Ian Mills (Club Vice President) Jan Watson (Club Secretary) Caroline England (Club Treasurer)

These roles are all elected by members’ vote in line with the Constitution.

To date, we have achieved our purposes by carrying out activities that have included:

- Donation of funds to the ChildSight UK Vision Screening project to go towards purchase of vision screening equipment to be used in schools

- Co-organising and supporting the Rugby Spring Fair in 2025, which provided a service to the community of Rugby as well as enabling the club to support local causes through funds raised

- Fund raising for Marie Curie and Royal British Legion

- Fund raising for Arden Angels cancer support charity

- Funding and providing a Festive Afternoon Tea for 60 local seniors

- Regular service at a local Hub Café, providing hot lunches for those who are alone and/or vulnerable

- Members supporting Age UK and Dogs for Good with their time and skills

- Members giving their time and energy to a local cats’ protection shelter and walking football club

- Bringing seasonal cheer to schools, nurseries and care homes with our Santa and Easter Bunny visits

- Toy collection in support of Shine A Light, a local cancer support charity

- Donations to Rugby Foodbank

- Providing marshalling services to local events and Young Farmers events, helping with car parking and visitor liaison

- Recycling spectacles and other items

- Supplying ‘Message in a Bottle’ containers

All funds collected directly from public donation are used entirely for charitable causes in line with the Lions International ethos.

We aim to continue attracting new members from the Rugby community to further extend our reach and our service capabilities.
