spreading yellow rattle seed at The Butts
12thOctober - Bulb planting at The Butts, where
residents of the village helped to plant 1,200
native daffodils, snowdrops, snakes head fritillary
and aconites.
19th October – Apple Day when anyone can
bring their own apples, or just come and help to
juice apples which have been donated to AWE.
Our first time at apple pressing and we made
about 40 litres of apple juice.
14thNovember – Concert by Thornton le Dale
Community Choir in Allerston Village Hall with a
raffle and refreshments, that raised over £190.
4th December - Wreath Making
14thDecember – providing refreshments at the
Ryedale Environment Group Christmas Eco Fair
in Pickering. Amazing donations of cake from
members and helping out on the day, that raised
over £150.
2025
18thFebruary – An illustrated talk on local Turtle
Doves in Allerston Village Hall.
1stMarch – The planting of 5 community fruit
trees at The Butts.
Our Whatsapp Group and Facebook Page are
regularly used my members to provide
information and photographs of anything| |||considered by members to be of interest to other
members – for example birds, moths, aurora
borealis, articles about the decline in species etc.
including promoting Swift boxes in the village.
Additional details of objectives and activities
At least one of the Trustees tries to attend every
Parish Council meeting to be available to answer
any questions that arise relating to The Butts or
any of AWE’s other activities.

Council over the possibility of renting or buying

planted at The Butts flowering in early February

with Ryedale Environment Group and Pickering
Environment Group and forging relationships with
local wildlife experts, all of which has helped to
raise the profile of AWE in Allerston and beyond.
Receiving a Grant of £200 from Allerston and
Wilton Parish Council, who have agreed to make
an annual payment to AWE.
Receiving a Grant of £300 from our local County
Councillor from her Locality Grant, towards the
purchase of bulbs and trees for The Butts.
