Annual Report of the Trustees for the year ending 30[th] June 2025

Charity Details

Name: TRUE MERCY AFRICA UK

Organisation Type: Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO)

Registered purposes

The purposes of the Charity are:

  1. The charity exists to advance charitable purposes including the relief of need, advancement of education, and the advancement of the Christian faith through outreach, discipleship, and community development initiatives in Uganda.

  2. To relieve persons who are in conditions of need or hardship or who are aged or sick and to relieve the distress caused thereby in Uganda as the trustees may from time to time think fit.

The primary work of the charity is to support the activities of True Mercy Africa Uganda, a registered non-governmental organisation (NGO) delivering programmes on the ground.

Structure, governance and management

True Mercy Africa UK is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered in England and Wales. The charity is governed by its constitution, which sets out the objects of the charity and the rules for its administration. The constitution is approved by the members of the charity and includes provisions relating to decision-making, including the voting thresholds required to pass resolutions.

The trustees are responsible for the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity. They ensure that the charity is operating in accordance with its charitable objectives and in compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Trustees are appointed in line with the provisions set out in the governing document and serve for a defined term.

The trustees meet regularly to oversee the work of the charity, review its financial position, and ensure that appropriate policies and procedures are in place. These include areas such as financial management, safeguarding, risk management, health and safety, and data protection.

Day-to-day activities are carried out by volunteers and through partnership with True Mercy Africa Uganda, which delivers the charity’s programmes on the ground. The trustees maintain oversight of this partnership to ensure accountability, transparency, and effective use of resources. Regular communication and meetings, including an Annual General Meeting (AGM), are held to ensure that members remain informed and engaged in the work of the charity.

The trustees during 2024/25 were:

Eveleen Kwesiga Richard LangfordJohnson

Trustees are appointed for a term of two years by a resolution passed at a meeting of Trustees which meets twice a year, with a planned structure in place to ensure appropriate governance of the charity’s resources. These meetings ensure there are mechanisms in place to monitor all our key areas of responsibility when it comes to overall management and administration of the charity, such as financial stewardship, risk management, safeguarding, data protection and health and safety.

Staffing - To enable the charity to meet its purposes, and in recognition of the challenges of being a new and young charity the Trustees continue in a voluntary capacity working with other volunteers to fulfill the mission of the charity.

Office Location – 14 Highfield Crescent, Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, NP7 6DA

Achievements and performance

The reporting period has been marked by both challenges and significant progress. Through perseverance and faith, the charity has continued to see growth in its work and impact, particularly in the development of young leaders and the strengthening of community life.

The year has been one of close monitoring of donations ensuring they are spent by TMA Uganda in line with donor expectations. The new accounting systems have been continually developed as we increase our understanding of the patterns of UK donations and the needs on the ground in Uganda.

Whilst we began with the support of a few individuals, this year has seen an increase in the number of people willing to commit to monthly giving. We are pleased with the growth in donations but as needs continue to mount in Uganda, there remains an urgent need to tell the story of TMA to as many people as we can, to continue to raise funds.

The donation received by TMA UK have supported a number of practical initiatives in Uganda that have brought meaningful improvements to daily life within the community. Two significant milestones occurred at the TMA farm in Kagere. Firstly, we were able to clear and grade a useable road directly to the farm; this enabled us to harvest 2 acres of sugarcane, as the trucks now had access to the farm. Secondly, we dug a new borehole which now provides clean drinking water to local families.

In terms of education, UK donations were used to support 3 students with school fees during this financial period, meaning that they were each able to complete their end of year examinations and be promoted to the next class.

Overall, the charity continues to see the fruit of faithful service, both spiritually and practically. The monthly commitments of our donor base have enabled the continuation of life at the TMA base in Uganda where children have been fed daily and weekly outreach and fellowship have continued. While challenges remain, the commitment of those on the ground in Uganda and the ongoing support of partners and donors in the UK, ensures that the work continues to grow, bringing hope, dignity, and lasting change to the communities served.

In planning these activities, the Trustees have applied the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

5

Finances

The financial position of the charity at the end of the period reflects its status as a relatively young organisation that is still in the early stages of developing its financial base and supporter network. Income during the period totalled £7,514.85 , with expenditure of £7,514.85 , resulting in a balanced position.

Funds received have been applied directly to support the charitable activities at TMA Uganda, particularly in relation to outreach, education, and community development work. As a growing charity, the trustees recognise that income levels remain modest, and continued efforts are being made to build a wider base of supporters and sustainable funding streams.

The trustees are deeply grateful for the generosity of those who have supported the charity financially and remain encouraged by the ongoing provision and faithfulness of supporters. The charity continues to trust that, through this support, it will be able to expand its impact in the years ahead.

This Report was approved by the Trustees on: 23 April 2026

Signed on their behalf by: Eveleen Kwesiga
