## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

Bali Farm Sanctuary UK is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered on 26 September 2024. The charity is governed by its constitution and managed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for strategic oversight, compliance, and ensuring delivery of the charity’s aims. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

Charitable objects (as per constitution): 

To advance education and promote humane behaviour towards animals, in particular farmed animals, through: 

- The provision of a sanctuary for rescued animals in Bali, Indonesia. 

- Public education and awareness activities promoting compassionate and sustainable lifestyles. 

## **Public Benefit Statement** 

The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when planning activities. 

## **Achievements and Performance (Sept 2024 – March 2025)** 

Although this was the charity’s first six months and activities were at an early stage, significant groundwork was completed: 

- UK Charity Registration: Successfully registered Bali Farm Sanctuary UK as a CIO with the Charity Commission. 

- Gift Aid Approval: Secured HMRC approval to reclaim Gift Aid on eligible donations. 



- Bank Account Established: Opened a UK charity bank account to receive and manage donations. 

- Sanctuary Site Agreement (in principle): Agreed initial terms for sanctuary land in Bali, enabling future development. 

- Seed Funding Commitments: Secured pledges and early donations towards our initial £20,000 “seed funding” goal. 

## **Financial Review** 

During this first short accounting period, income and expenditure were minimal. Income consisted of individual donations and three grant maker donations. No expenses were recorded during the financial period. of September 2024 - March 2025. 

The trustees are satisfied that the charity is in a strong financial position to continue its development in the next financial year. 

## **Plans for Future Periods (April 2025 onwards)** 

Beyond the reporting period, the charity has already made further progress: 

   - Registration of our sister organisation in Indonesia (Yayasan Penjaga Hewan Indonesia). Development of financial procedures. 

   - Securing initial seed funding to begin site development. 

   - Renting a small section of land and rescuing our first resident animal. Launching our website and preparing public fundraising campaigns. 

- Planned activities for the coming year include: 

   - Finalising land agreements and beginning sanctuary development. 

   - Hiring a sanctuary co-ordinator in Bali and expanding the Indonesian team/ Expanding fundraising through grant applications, campaigns, and events. 

## **Reserves Policy** 

Given the charity is newly registered, no formal reserves have yet been built up. The trustees will review and adopt a reserves policy as income grows. 

## **Risk Management** 

The Trustees of Bali Farm Sanctuary UK are committed to a structured approach to risk management. We identify risks across four key areas: Governance, Operational, Financial, and External. The Risk Register is reviewed annually or whenever a significant change in operations occurs. 

## **Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Annual Report and Accounts in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 and applicable regulations.

## **2024/25 Treasure’s Report** 

## **1. Overview** 

This report summarises the financial position of the charity from registration on 26 September 2024 to the financial year end of 31 March 2025. The reporting period runs from September 2024 – March 2025, with the new financial year commencing on 1 April 2025. 

During this first period, our focus has been on establishing systems for the Indonesian Yayasan to make finance requests and provide clear reports on the use of funding. 

At the time of reporting, no expenditure has yet been submitted or approved, and the accounts currently only show income. This is expected to change in the new financial year as requests begin and expenses are assigned.

## **4. Statement of Assets and Liabilities (as of 31 March 2025)**

- Liabilities: £0 

- Undesignated/Unrestricted Funds: £21,444 

The trustees confirm that the CIO has given no guarantees and has no debt secured by a charge on its assets. 

## **Notes** 

Guarantees: The CIO has given no guarantees where a potential liability exists at the year-end. 

Debt: There is no debt owed by the CIO which is secured by a charge on any of the assets of the CIO. 

Trustee Remuneration: No remuneration or expenses were paid to trustees during this period. 

## **5. Plans for Next Period** 

- Begin regular transfers to the Indonesian Yayasan based on agreed finance request and monitoring procedures. 

- Provide updates at each AGM on approvals and expenditure of funds.

- Prepare and file the first Annual Return by July 2026. 

- Develop and implement a reserves policy. 

- Continue ongoing financial monitoring.
