MATLOCK AND DISTRICT COMMUNITY FIRST RESPONDERS TRUSTEES’ REPORT 2025

Matlock and District Community First Responders applied for charity status as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation using the Charity Commission's model constitution and it was granted on 13/09/2023.

The objectives of the group have continued as before – The relief of sickness and the preservation of life to members of the public by providing trained volunteers to attend medical emergencies as directed by East midlands Ambulance Service.

The Charity also registered with HMRC and has recovered £137.63 on gift aid donations. Also, we have been able to purchase medical equipment with zero rated VAT.

During the first year Cheryl Harris resigned as a trustee and a Community First Responder for personal reasons. The existing trustees appointed a Community First Responder of long standing Gavin Cantrill as a trustee.

The finances of the scheme have remained at a similar level from prior to the registration as a charity to now. Prior to becoming a charity the cash fund was £4711.93 (end financial year 2023/24) and £4805.18 at the end of the following financial year. The present cash fund is £5099.44 as at 30/09/25.

During the last year Lloyds Bank withdrew free banking and this resulted in us paying a fee on all transactions no matter what the value was. The scheme decided to change to Barclays and the changeover process is nearing completion.

The scheme has acted as a mentor for a new scheme based in Hartington. Three new Community First Responders have passed their mentoring and a fourth is in process.

The number of Community First Responders at Matlock & District CFRS has remained the same during the period with one just completing his Level 2 training. There are a number of applicants in the system at various stages of their application.

The Trustees have decided that the AGM for the scheme going forward would be in November and the first one would coincide with the scheme’s monthly meeting on 19/11/25.
