Seaton Community Group Annual Report 24/25
Charity Number :1209943
: Objectives
Our aim is to support and benefit everyone living in Seaton, Cumbria and it’s surrounding areas. We welcome people of all ages and backgrounds, without discrimination of any kind.
We hope to achieve this by bringing together local residents and authorities, voluntary groups and other organisations. Our shared goal is to support education and to provide facilities and activities that promote social welfare, recreation and wellbeing. This includes providing opportunities specifically for young people through a youth club.
To help achieve these aims, the trustees want to establish, support and manage a community centre housed within the Reading Rooms located in the heart of Seaton Village.
Structure & Governance
Seaton Community group is a Constitution of a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) with voting members other than its charity trustees ‘Association’ model constitution.
The name of the CIO is Seaton Community Group.
Achievements and. performance
Following a strong start in 2024, including successful Ladies’ Nights and raffles, fundraising was temporarily paused due to legal uncertainties surrounding the ownership of the building in which the charity is based.
Originally donated for the benefit of the people of Seaton, the building could not be used while questions remained over its ownership and responsibility for upkeep and insurance. With the support of Seaton Parish Council, these issues are expected to be resolved in the near future, with the charity taking on possessory rights of the building.
Financial Review
Our income was £2790, mainly from charitable events. .We spent £1020, leaving £1770 in reserves.
