## **Norwich Community Money Advice Connect Centre**

## **Trustees’ Annual Report for the year ended 31 March 2026**

## **The charity**

Norwich Community Money Advice Connect Centre (the charity) was established in 2024 and was registered by the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 3 September 2024 with registered charity number 1209869.

The charity’s correspondence address is Chantry Hall, The Chantry, Norwich NR2 1QZ.

The charity is constituted as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO). The object of the charity is:

The prevention and relief of poverty for the public benefit through the provision of practical and emotional support in managing personal finances to people with debt-related problems living in Norwich and surrounding parts of Norfolk who through lack of means would otherwise be unable to obtain such support and advice.

The trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit.

## **Trustees**

The charity was established as a collaboration initiated by two Norwich churches, St Peter Mancroft and St Stephen’s. St Stephen’s relinquished its role as a foundation church on 23 July 2025. Each foundation church, including any additional foundation church which the charity so designates in the future, may appoint up to two people as nominated trustees. The trustees may in addition appoint up to four co-opted trustees.

The charity’s trustees over the period were:

Nik Chapman (Chair from 1 April 2026) Glenys Currie (appointed 28 May 2025) Adam Curtis (appointed 23 January 2025, resigned 4 June 2025) David Lechmere (appointed 28 May 2025) Paul Light (Chair 1 October 2025 to 31 March 2026) Cherri Moseley (appointed 28 May 2025) Naomi Tuma (resigned 30 September 2025; Chair to 30 September 2025) Catherine Waddams (resigned 28 Mary 2025)

The trustees meet together as a body approximately monthly and are responsible for all decisions taken in relation to running the charity. The trustees are supported by a working group of volunteers and, since November 2025, a salaried Centre Manager.

## **Activities in the year**

Activities in the previous period and up to December 2025 were in preparation for launching the charity’s operations and services. Sue Whitworth was appointed as Centre Manager in October 2025 and our first client appointments took place in January 2026.

The charity is affiliated with Community Money Advice (CMA), a national charity that enables and supports churches and community groups to establish local, free-to-client, faceto-face money advice services. CMA is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and will issue any debt advice provided to the charity’s clients.

During the year eight volunteers, together with the Centre Manager, completed CMA’s Money Mentor training to join the five trained in the previous period.

Since the launch and up to 31 March 2026 42 individuals have directly benefited from engaging with our services.

## **Financial review**

As reported in the accounts which follow this report, the charity has since its registration in September 2024 raised grants totalling £14,500 and personal donations totalling £23,594, together with tax recovered on Gift Aid donations of £5,739. Total income received in the year was £20,600 (seven months to 31 March 2025: £23,737).

Payments totalling £16,633 were made in the year in relation to the activities outlined above. Funds of £23,823 were held at the year end. The trustees have approved a budget for the year ending 31 March 2027 with expenditure totalling £31,966.

The trustees will be seeking further grant funding to enable continuing operations.

## **Reserves policy**

At this early stage of the charity’s development the trustees plan the charity’s finances with the aim of building and maintaining free reserves between one and two years’ forecast expenditure. At the year end the charity had free reserves amounting to nine months’ expenditure at the rate budgeted for 2026-27.

## **Approval**

The trustees approved this trustees’ report on 19 May 2026 and it has been signed on behalf of the trustees by
