## **Objects of the Charity** 

The charity's objects are the prevention or relief of poverty among children and young people throughout England and Wales by the provision of grants, items and services, and to advance the amateur sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for the public benefit by encouraging greater participation through improving access to competition and training opportunities. 

## **Public Benefit** 

The trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under section 17(5) of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the public benefit guidance published by the Charity Commission. 

The charity advances public benefit by: 

• Removing financial barriers that prevent young people from participating in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitions 

• Supporting amateur sport development and physical fitness among children and young people 

• Operating throughout England and Wales without discrimination based on background or financial circumstances 



## **ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS** 

## **Overview of the Year** 

This is the charity's first operational period since registration on 28 August 2024. During this 7.2-month financial period ending 5 April 2025, the charity spent the initial months establishing its operational framework, including HMRC registration for Gift Aid eligibility, registration with JustGiving, and the Fundraising Regulator. The Gift Aid registration process was particularly crucial as it enabled the charity to reclaim tax on donations, significantly increasing the value of donor contributions and accelerating fundraising effectiveness. Public fundraising commenced in Q4 2024, with beneficiary screening beginning in December 2024, resulting in less than 4 months of active charitable delivery within this first financial year. Significantly, the charity demonstrated exceptional responsiveness by expanding its geographic scope from an initial London focus to England and Wales-wide operations within just one month, after application patterns revealed the greatest need existed outside London. 

## **Main Activities** 

## **Travel Cost Support** 

The charity supported young people by providing travel cost assistance for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournaments. This targeted support enabled access to both national and international competitions, removing financial barriers that would otherwise prevent participation. 

## **Partnership Development** 

The charity established formal partnerships with five major tournament organizations: Nova Grappling, All Stars BJJ, English Open BJJ Tournaments, NAGA Grappling Association, and Empire Grappling. These partnerships provide verified charity beneficiaries with free registration and competition access, representing significant in-kind charitable value and demonstrating exceptional community recognition of the charity's credibility and mission. Additionally, the charity has achieved recognition by UK BJJA, the sport's national governing body, further validating the charity's legitimate role in supporting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu development in the UK. 

## **Geographic Expansion and Needs-Based Adaptation** 

The charity initially focused on London but demonstrated exceptional responsiveness by expanding to England and Wales-wide operations within one month of receiving applications. This rapid geographic expansion was driven by evidence that the greatest need existed outside London, showing the trustees' commitment to directing resources where they would have maximum impact rather than maintaining arbitrary geographic restrictions. 



## **Impact and Outcomes** 

During this shortened operational period of less than 4 months (December 2024 to March 2025), the charity achieved its first significant impact by supporting a parent and young athlete with travel costs to attend the European Kids BJJ Gi tournament hosted by IBJJF. This young athlete won gold in their category and was promoted by their coach on the podium, demonstrating the transformative effect of removing financial barriers to competition participation. Additionally, two young athletes accessed multiple tournaments through the charity's partner organizations, achieving multiple podium medals which elevated their athletic profiles and unlocked further competitive opportunities, creating a multiplier effect where initial charitable support generates ongoing benefits beyond the original investment. Significantly, the charity's established partnerships enabled additional multiplier effects, providing substantial in-kind charitable value through agreements allowing verified charity beneficiaries to register and compete at no cost. This achievement, delivered without financial exchange, demonstrates exceptional community support and significantly multiplies the charity's impact potential by removing entry fee barriers across multiple competition platforms. 

The charity operated primarily through online platforms, enabling the evidence-based geographic expansion that directs resources where they can achieve maximum impact, particularly supporting young people who face greater barriers to accessing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu opportunities.

## **Income Sources** 

The charity's income during this period consisted entirely of donations totaling £2,871.71, received through JustGiving from supporters of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and individuals committed to improving youth access to amateur sport. HMRC Gift Aid registration enabled tax reclamation on eligible donations, maximizing donor contribution value. Notably, one donation came from the London Women's Open Mat, demonstrating community-level support. The donations were received consistently from November 2024 through April 2025, demonstrating strong grassroots support for the charity's objectives. 

## **Expenditure** 

All expenditure totaling £386.16 was directed toward the charity's core objectives, consisting of travel costs to support a young athlete's participation in the European Kids BJJ Gi tournament hosted by IBJJF. This targeted expenditure enabled direct charitable impact, resulting in gold medal achievement and athletic promotion. The charity's partnership model delivered additional multiplier effects through free competition access, demonstrating exceptional efficiency and sustainable impact creation. 

## **Reserves Policy** 

The trustees maintain a reserves policy to ensure the charity can meet its ongoing obligations and respond to unexpected demands from beneficiaries. The target level of free reserves is £1,200, representing approximately 3 months of typical operational expenditure. 

At the year end, free reserves stood at £2,485.55, which the trustees consider above target for the charity's current operational requirements. 



## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** 

## **Governing Document** 

All Mighty Youth is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under registration number 1209789. The charity is governed by its constitution dated 28 August 2024. 

## **Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees** 

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity's constitution. The trustees seek to ensure that the board has the appropriate mix of skills, experience, and knowledge necessary to effectively govern the charity and further its objects. New trustees receive appropriate induction and ongoing training to ensure they understand their duties and responsibilities. 

## **Organizational Structure** 

The charity operates primarily through digital platforms, allowing efficient delivery of services across England and Wales. Day-to-day operations are managed by the trustees, with key decisions made collectively at trustee meetings. 

## **Risk Management** 

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed and have established systems and procedures to manage these risks. Key risks include: • Financial risks related to income fluctuation and expenditure management 

• Operational risks in service delivery and beneficiary assessment 

• Safeguarding risks when working with children and young people 

• Compliance risks relating to charity law and regulation 

## **PLANS FOR FUTURE PERIODS** 

The trustees have identified strategic priorities for the next financial year that build upon the charity's established strengths: 

• Maintaining competition participation support as the primary charitable activity, leveraging the established infrastructure and mature network of opportunities available within the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community 

• Expanding the partnership network to increase the number of competitions where verified beneficiaries can participate at no cost, building upon the successful agreements already established with major tournament organizations 

• Promoting the implementation of safeguarding policies in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that have been developed and published by Sports England and UK BJJA, supporting broader sport development and child protection within the community 

• Strengthening the charity's relationship with UK BJJA as the sport's national governing body to ensure continued recognition and alignment with national sport development priorities 

• Securing grants to support "Connecting Communities" initiatives, ensuring that charitable benefits reach beyond city hubs to support young people in areas with limited access to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu opportunities, building upon the charity's evidence-based geographic expansion approach 



## **STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES** 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the trustees' annual report and the accounts in accordance with applicable law and regulations. 

Charity law requires the trustees to prepare accounts for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the charity's financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. 

In preparing these accounts, the trustees are required to: 

• Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently 

- Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent 

- State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed 

• Prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to assume the charity will continue in operation 

The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with charity law. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
