Structure, governance and management
The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 28 August 2024 and governed by its Foundation model constitution adopted on 27 August 2024. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the constitution. No trustee received remuneration or expenses during the period.
The trustees have adopted the following policies and procedures, as declared on the Charity Commission register: bullying and harassment; campaigns and political activity; complaints; engaging external speakers at charity events; financial reserves; internal financial controls; internal risk management; investing charity funds; safeguarding; serious incident reporting; social media; trustee conflicts of interest; and trustee expenses. These will be kept under review as the charity moves towards operational activity.
Objectives and activities
The object of the CIO is: the relief of those in need, by reason of youth, age, ill-health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage in Greater Manchester, by providing access to housing support and advice, educational opportunities and facilities, and through providing opportunities and facilities for leisure time and recreational activities.
The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and objectives and in planning future activities.
Achievements and performance
The charity did not commence operational activity during the period. This was the charity's first accounting period, and the trustees' work was confined to establishing the charity: adopting its constitution on 27 August 2024, completing registration as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charity Commission on 28 August 2024, establishing the charity's governance arrangements, and early planning towards the charity's objects of providing housing support, advice and related opportunities for those in need in Greater Manchester. No charitable activities involving income or expenditure took place, and the trustees received no remuneration or expenses. No charitable activities involving income or expenditure took place.
Financial review
The charity had no income and no expenditure during the period. No assets were held at the year end and there were no liabilities. The charity has adopted a financial reserves policy; as the charity has not yet received any funds, reserves at the yearend were nil. The reserves position will be reviewed when the charity begins to receive funds.
