## OUT TO AFRICA ## **Trustees’ Annual Report** For the period 27 August 2024 to 1 April 2025 Charity Number: 1209758 ## TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE PERIOD 27 AUGUST 2024 TO 1 APRIL 2025 Charity name: **OUT TO AFRICA** Charity number: **1209758** ## **Reference and Administrative Details** The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). ## **Trustees during the reporting period:** - Dr Niven Akotia (Chair) - Ms Julie Godfrey - Mr Tom Browne ## **Principal address:** Hartford House Hartford End Chelmsford CM3 1JY ## **Objectives and Activities** The object of the charity is to promote and protect the health of people in Zambia through providing face to face and virtual training and education to healthcare staff on healthcare including Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthesia, Intensive Care, Nursing and Physiotherapy. ## **Public Benefit** The trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity’s aims and objectives and in planning future activities. ## **Activities During the Period** This was the charity’s first reporting period following separation from a larger charitable organisation under which the project had previously operated as a sub-account initiative. During the reporting period the charity did not undertake active charitable operations, fundraising activities, educational events, overseas visits, or grant-making activity. The period was primarily used to establish the independent governance and banking arrangements of the CIO following separation from the previous umbrella charity structure. Funds held by the charity during the period consisted solely of transferred charitable funds originating from the former parent charity arrangement. No donations, grants, fundraising income, or trading income were received during the reporting period. ## **Financial Review** Opening funds at the start of the reporting period were £10,750.26. Closing funds at the end of the reporting period were £10,716.26. The only expenditure incurred during the reporting period related to routine bank account charges totalling £34.00. ## **Reserves Policy** The trustees consider the charity’s reserves to be appropriate for the current stage of development of the organisation. Funds are being retained to support future charitable activities in Zambia once operational activity commences. ## **Plans for Future Periods** The trustees intend to commence charitable activities during the next reporting period, including development of healthcare education partnerships, provision of virtual and face-to-face healthcare training, and collaborative educational support with healthcare professionals in Zambia. ## **Structure, Governance and Management** The charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (Foundation Model) and is governed by its constitution dated 16 April 2024. ## **Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations.
