## TRUSTEES REPORT
## **Report of the trustees for the year ended 31[st] March 2026**
The trustees present their report along with the financial statements of the charity for the year ended 31[st] March 2026. The financial statements comply with the charity’s trust deed, the Charities Act 1993 and the Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting and Reporting by Charities 2015.
## **Structure, governance and management**
The charity was established as a **Charitable Incorporated Organisation** on 14[th] May 2024. The charity’s objectives are:
1. Encouraging members and others to live ethical lives in accordance with the teachings of the Buddha;
2. Supporting ordained members of the Triratna Buddhist Community and other duly ordained Buddhists, at
the discretion of the Council of the CIO;
3. Maintaining close communication with and working under the guidance of the Triratna Buddhist Order and
in co-operation with other groups with the same objects; and
4. Using applications of the Buddha's teaching to promote the health and well-being of all.
## **Report for the year**
Throughout the year, the charity continued to provide a welcoming and supportive environment in which people could explore Buddhist teachings, establish a meditation practice, and discover the value of spiritual friendship. Through a diverse programme of classes, courses, study groups and retreats, participants were encouraged to deepen their understanding of Buddhism and integrate its principles into everyday life.
Weekly Thursday evening classes at St Mary's Church Hall in Frome formed the heart of the charity's regular programme. Designed for those with an existing grounding in Buddhism, these sessions offered the opportunity to explore the tradition in greater depth through study, meditation and discussion.
For those taking their first steps on the Buddhist path, the charity offered a series of six-week introductory courses on Monday evenings. These courses provided an accessible introduction to Buddhist practice and meditation, with some participants choosing to continue their journey by joining the regular Thursday evening community.
The charity's Silver Sangha programme continued to flourish, bringing older people together in an atmosphere of friendship, shared practice and mutual support. These well-attended gatherings demonstrated the importance of community in promoting wellbeing and spiritual growth.

Dedicated study groups for women and for men enabled participants to engage more deeply with Buddhist teachings, strengthening both understanding and commitment through collective learning and reflection.
Retreats at Adhisthana Retreat Centre offered the opportunity to step away from the demands of daily life and immerse participants in periods of intensive meditation and study alongside members of Triratna Centres and Groups from across the UK. These retreats remained an important part of many practitioners' spiritual development.
Throughout the year, members of the Triratna Buddhist Order in Frome continued to offer guidance, encouragement and friendship to those preparing for ordination, helping to nurture the next generation of committed practitioners.
While many of the charity's activities were open to anyone wishing to explore Buddhism and meditation, other programmes supported those seeking to deepen an established practice. Together, these activities reflected the charity's commitment to making the transformative teachings of the Buddha accessible to people at every stage of their spiritual journey.

## **Risk Management**
The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed. They are satisfied that there are systems in place to mitigate exposure to major risks. The Trustees have created a Risk Register which will be reviewed annually. The next review is due in September 2026 .
## **Business and Financial Review**
The charity had income of £7,158 for the year (2024/25 £5,387) and administrative costs of £6,007 (2024/25 £4,336) giving rise to a surplus for the year of £1,151 (2024/25 £1,051).
## **Independent Examination of the Charity**
There was no independent examination of the financial records carried out for the year 2025/26 as the charity’s income was below the Charities Commission lower limit for the requirement for an independent examination.
## **Future Plans**
Building on the success of this year's programme, the Trustees look forward to expanding opportunities for people to explore, deepen and sustain their Buddhist practice through:
- A vibrant programme of weekly classes in Buddhism and meditation, offering ongoing inspiration, learning and community.
- A series of welcoming introductory courses, providing an accessible first step into Buddhist practice and meditation.

- Dedicated study groups for women and men seeking to deepen their understanding of Buddhist teachings through shared inquiry and reflection.
- Continued guidance and support for those preparing for ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order.
- The Silver Sangha programme, creating opportunities for retired people to connect through meditation, friendship and spiritual practice.
- Periodic weekend meditation workshops, offering time to refresh and deepen practice.
- Residential retreats ranging from one to seven days, providing the space for sustained meditation, study and personal reflection.
- Special weekend events throughout the year, bringing people together to celebrate, learn and strengthen the local Buddhist community.

## **1 Accounting policies**
## **Basis of preparation**
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with the Statement of Recommended Practice 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities (SORP 2015) issued in March 2015 and the Charities Act 2011.
## **Fund accounting policy**
Further details of each fund are disclosed in note 8.
## **Incoming resources**
Donations, legacies and other forms of voluntary income are recognised as incoming resources when receivable.
## **Resources expended**
Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries.
## **Governance costs**
Governance costs would include costs of the preparation and examination of the statutory accounts, the costs of Trustees meetings and the cost of any legal advice to trustees on governance or constitutional matters. There were no charges in 2024/25 to Governance, all services were provided on a voluntary basis/
