## **Structure, Governance and Management:** 

The Pink House Foundation is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), whose only voting members are it’s Charity Trustees (as list above).  Recruitment and reappointment of Trustees are as per Charity’s governing document.  The Charity has no paid staff. No Trustee receives payment from the Charity. 

## **Summary of the Purposes of the Charity as set out in governing document:** 

The Object(s) of the Charity is the promotion of equality and diversity and the promotion of social inclusion of those within the LGBTQIA+ community (the community) for the public benefit by: 

- the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of gender and sexual orientation; 

- advancing education and raising awareness in equality and diversity; 

- promoting activities to foster understanding between people from diverse backgrounds; 

- cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity; 

- providing community support through the sharing of information, knowledge, resources and experience to empower and improve quality of life, ; and 

- providing access to healthcare services to meet physical and mental health needs 

- to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of other charities working with the LGBTQIA+ community, by signposting members of the community and 



educators, healthcare professionals, friends and family to their activities and resources and by funding their projects and activities. 

(LGBTQIA+ means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual. the additional “+” stands for all of the other identities not encompassed in the short acronym). 

## **Recruitment of Trustees:** 

The Charity Trustees select individuals for appointment with regard to the skills, knowledge and experience need for the effective administration of the CIO. Currently the Trustees have specialisms in Business Affairs, Management, PR and Communication, Accounting and Fundraising. 

## **Information for Trustees:** 

All current Trustees are in possession of the CIO’s current constitution, and are aware of their responsibilities as Trustees. 

## **Trustees Understanding of Public Benefit:** 

Trustees have regard to the Charity Commission's public benefit guidance when exercising any powers or duties to which the guidance is relevant, and Trustees have complied with that duty. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

## **Brief summary setting out the main activities undertaken by the Charity to carry out its charitable purposes for the public benefit during this period:** 

As The Pink House Foundation is categorised as a ‘smaller’ Charity (income less than £500,000) in this accounting period, the Trustees summarise activity accordingly. 

Upon the completion of registration of this Charity in August 2024, the Trustees focused on the promotion of equality and diversity and the promotion of social inclusion of those within the LGBTQIA+ community by looking to invest in, and create, an online digital community, which aligned with the Charity’s objects to provide ‘community support through the sharing of information, knowledge, resources and experience to empower and improve quality of life’. 

It became evident that whilst the public benefit from this would be significant.  Once this was in development the Charity learnt of changes around the World that were making it increasingly hard for organisations working within the LGBTQIA+ community to continue to provide services.   This often seemed to be caused by a reduction in governmental, corporate and private funding, an insight which was subsequently evidenced:

The Trustees responded to this changing environment, and voted to pause the funding for/and work on digital content and platforms in order to pivot towards focusing the Charity’s efforts on grant-making and fundraising. 

Reviewing all grant-making options, and wanting to achieve the maximum impact for the Charity’s funds, the Trustees agreed to focus on one area with high vulnerability – Homelessness (unhoused or marginally housed people in the LGBTQIA+ community). 

## **Grant-Making Round 2025 Process** 

Funding theme – Homelessness in LGBTQIA+ communities 

The Trustees agreed to create a smaller sub-group of three Trustees to review grant applications and addressing the most marginalised LGBTQIA+ populations. 

The Charity sought out suitable beneficiaries for one-off funding, which resulted in the Charity receiving four UK grant applications, all from UK Registered charities. After a full review, and recommendations to the full Board, grants were awarded to two organisations. 

In the USA the Charity continued its collaboration with the Ali Forney Center, and its commitment to support it’s ‘Model Replication Program’ (outreach to uplift smaller community organisations working across LGBTQIA+ homelessness).  Through this collaboration the Charity received five Grant applications from 501(c)3 registered projects and after a full review, and recommendations to the full Board a grant was awarded to one organisation. 

## **Achievements and Performance;** 

## **Grants:** 

The Pink House Foundation entered into contractual arrangements to make grants to three beneficiaries in 2025. 

All three grants are aligned with the Charity’s Purpose and demonstrated Public Benefit. 

UK Youth Service: 

akt – The Charity’s grant will strengthen and scale one of the most vital services for UK homeless LGBTQIA+ youth: akt’s digital/live chat helpline. This grant was the first external funding of their live chat core service, and will also allow akt to explore innovation to extend support out of hours. In FY24/25, this akt service had conversations with 704 LGBTQIA+ young people, a 48% increase on the previous year. 

UK Older People service: 



Stonewall Housing – The Charity’s grant funds 5-months of this service for vulnerable, marginalised, aging, 50+ yrs LGBTQIA+ people.  Owing to the end of their current funding, this grant enables continuity of service and key staff retention whilst they seek other underwriting.  As a result of this grant Stonewall Housing has been able to secure a 3-year funding partner to take over in May 2026. 

US Youth Service: 

Courage+ - The Charity’s Grant will support this Milwaukee-based organisation to create a Sensory Room as a safe space for service users, and also as a therapeutic space where counselling, psychotherapy and other services can be offered to give access to healthcare services that meet physical and mental health needs. 

## **Other partnerships:** 

Collaboration informs our work. The Charity is working with organisations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of other charities working with the LGBTQIA+ community.  This is most notably evidenced in the work with New York-based homeless charity Ali Forney Center who, through their expertise, helped the Trustees to identify small regional US projects as potential grantees. 

This co-operation led the Charity to help support the income generation for the Ali Forney Center’s Model Replication Program.  This was achieved by the Charity supplying, and covering the cost of, technology and equipment (such as tap and pay card readers) to collect donations at the Charity Founder’s run of 23 shows in New York at the end of 2025. 

## **Fundraising:** 

The Charity aims to continue to provide collection access/fund technology to other local organisations working with LGBTQIA+ populations in locations of upcoming events/concerts given by the Charity’s Founder. 

The Charity is also establishing income generation via exclusive merchandise being sold at concerts.  This began with the New York shows to December 2025, and donation income will appear in the next financial year 



## **Financial Review;** 

During the first year the Charity received donations totalling £217,139.     This enabled strategy development, branding and the set-up of the Charity.   The Charity also provided grants to of £79,916 to organisations working within the  LGBTQIA+ community. The remaining reserves of £34,830 will be carried forward to enable the effective running of the Charity for 2026

## **1 Accounting policies** 

## **Charity information** 

The Pink House Foundation is a Foundation Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), registered on 23 August 2024, with a registered office at First Floor, 14-15 Berners Street, London, W1T 3LJ. 

## **1.1 Accounting convention** 

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the charity's governing document, the Charities Act 2011, FRS 102 "The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland" and the Charities SORP "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102)". The charity is a Public Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102. 

The charity has taken advantage of the provisions in the SORP for charities not to prepare a statement of cash flows. 

The financial statements are prepared in sterling, which is the functional currency of the charity. Monetary amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £. 

The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting policies adopted are set out below. 

## **1.2 Going concern** 

At the time of approving the financial statements, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the Trustees continue to adopt the going concern basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements. 

## **1.3 Charitable funds** 

Unrestricted funds are available for use at the discretion of the Trustees in furtherance of their charitable objectives. 

Restricted funds are subject to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements. 

Endowment funds are subject to specific conditions by donors that the capital must be maintained by the charity. 

## **1.4 Income** 

Income is recognised when the charity is legally entitled to it after any performance conditions have been met, the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be received. 

Cash donations are recognised on receipt. Other donations are recognised once the charity has been notified of the donation, unless performance conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation. 

Investment income is included in the accounts when receivable. 

## **1.5 Expenditure** 

Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to transfer economic benefit to a third party, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement, and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably.

## **1.6 Cash and cash equivalents** 

Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, deposits held at call with banks, other short-term liquid investments with original maturities of three months or less, and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown within borrowings in current liabilities. 

## **1.7 Financial instruments** 

The charity has elected to apply the provisions of Section 11 ‘Basic Financial Instruments’ and Section 12 ‘Other Financial Instruments Issues’ of FRS 102 to all of its financial instruments. 

Financial instruments are recognised in the charity's balance sheet when the charity becomes party to the contractual provisions of the instrument. 

Financial assets and liabilities are offset, with the net amounts presented in the financial statements, when there is a legally enforceable right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to settle on a net basis or to realise the asset and settle the liability simultaneously. 

## _**Basic financial assets**_ 

Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances, are initially measured at transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequently carried at amortised cost using the effective interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is measured at the present value of the future receipts discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets classified as receivable within one year are not amortised. 

## _**Basic financial liabilities**_ 

Basic financial liabilities, including creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction price unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instrument is measured at the present value of the future payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabilities classified as payable within one year are not amortised.

**Respective responsibilities of** The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year **trustees and examiner** (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (the Act), as amended by s.28 of the Charities Act 2006) and that an independent examination is needed. 

- It is my responsibility to: 

   - Examine the accounts (under section 43 of the Act, as amended). 

   - • To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 43(7)(b) of  the Act, as amended), And 

   - To state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

**Basis of independent** My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions **examiner’s statement** given by the charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
