The Trustees present their report and the accounts for the period ended 31 May 2025. 

## **Constitution** 

Dearne Valley RUFC was registered as a charity on 21[st] August 2024, number 1209698. 

## **Reference and Administrative Details** 

Dearne Valley Rugby Union Football Club (“the Club”) is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) established to promote and develop the game of rugby union within the Dearne Valley area. 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Club is governed by its constitution and is managed by the trustees, who are elected by the members at the Annual General Meeting. The trustees are responsible for the overall management and control of the Club’s activities. 

Day-to-day operations are delegated to the Committee and volunteer officers, who report to the trustees on a regular basis. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The Club’s primary objective is to promote participation in rugby union and to provide opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to play, coach, officiate, and enjoy the sport. 

During the year ended 31 May 2025, the Club continued to: 

- Provide regular training and competitive rugby for the senior team 

- Maintain facilities for the benefit of members and the local community 

- Promote inclusivity, sportsmanship, and player welfare 

The trustees confirm that they have had due regard to public benefit guidance when planning the Club’s activities. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

During the year, the Club successfully fulfilled its sporting and community objectives despite ongoing financial and operational pressures facing grassroots sport. 

Key achievements during the year included: 

- Promotion to Counties 3 Yorkshire division 

- Increased player numbers 

- Delivery of regular coaching sessions by qualified volunteers 

- Successful fundraising and social events supporting the Club’s financial stability 

## **Financial Review** 

The financial statements show the results for the year ended 31 May 2025. 

The Club’s income of £24,661, is derived primarily from membership subscriptions, match day income, fundraising activities, sponsorships, and grants. Expenditure of £21,786, relates mainly to facility costs, kit and equipment, league fees, and general running expenses. 

The trustees consider the Club’s financial position at the year-end to be satisfactory and believe the Club is well placed to continue its activities in the foreseeable future.

## **Reserves Policy** 

The trustees aim to maintain a level of reserves sufficient to meet ongoing operational costs and to provide a buffer against unforeseen expenditure or reductions in income. Budgets and forecasts are produced by the Treasurer and reserves are reviewed regularly in line with the Club’s financial position and future plans. 

## **Risk Management** 

The trustees have assessed the major risks facing the Club and have taken steps to mitigate these risks where possible. Key risks include: 

- Fluctuations in membership and income 

- Rising operational and maintenance costs 

- Reliance on volunteers 

Appropriate policies and procedures are in place to manage these risks. 

## **Plans for Future Periods** 

The trustees intend to: 

- Continue to grow participation across all age groups 

- Strengthen financial sustainability through fundraising and sponsorship 

- Invest in facilities, equipment, and coaching development 

- Maintain strong community engagement and volunteer support 

## **Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities** 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and regulations. The trustees are required to: 

- Prepare financial statements that give a true and fair view of the Club’s financial position 

- Keep proper accounting records 

- Safeguard the assets of the Club 

- Take reasonable steps to prevent and detect fraud and other irregularities

Basis of Accounting 

These accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, on a receipts and payments basis, in accordance with Section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 and following the guidance for accounting for smaller charities issued by the Charity Commission.
