## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES FOR THE PERIOD 20 AUGUST 2024 TO 31 MARCH 2025**
The trustees present their report with the financial statements of the charity for the period 20 August 2024 to 31 March 2025. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019).
## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES**
## **Objectives and aims**
To advance the Christian religion for the public benefit in accordance with the Statement of Faith in the Schedule hereto attached in such parts of the United Kingdom and the world.
## **Significant activities**
The organisation and provision of Christian worship;
The provision of such facilities and services as are appropriate for the Church, to enable it to fulfil its mission to the members of the Church, visitors to the Church and the local community and the wider community;
The provision of facilities for Christian training and service;
The support and provision of Christian evangelism and outreach;
The provision of assistance to the wider Christian church in its ministries.
## **Public benefit**
The Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit as highlighted in section 6 of the Charity's constitution.
## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE**
## **Charitable activities**
God's invited The Beacon Vineyard, South Tyneside to be a compassionate, biblically-based community church, empowered by the Holy Spirit to be a beacon of hope and light, as we love South Tyneside with Jesus at the centre. We are called to go and point to the hope, healing, restoration, freedom, forgiveness and joy that is offered by Jesus, and to help disciple those around us to know, love and follow him.
The focus for the first eight months of the charity being up and running, has been:
To gather and develop the relationships of those initially wanting to get involved and support the charity. This has included hosting regular and adhoc activities/gatherings/events that will further understanding and practice of the Christian faith, strengthen relationships within the church and contribute to the local community.
To strengthen working relationships between The Beacon Vineyard, South Tyneside and other churches and charities, to work together for the benefit of South Tyneside.
To develop the church's administrative and governance processes, ensuring that all activities/gatherings/ events are safe and well organised.

## **Team development**
We have seen the team grow in their knowledge of Jesus and strengthen in their relationships with one another.
We have seen the core group grow, with more people taking an interest in and coming to the church events and gatherings we have held.
There has been an increased interest in people helping and volunteering at our gatherings, activities and events. This has enabled us to begin to establish some of these gatherings as regular events in the monthly/termly calendar.
## **Gatherings**
From October 2024 we have maintained and established four groups that meet across the month with the aim of supporting one another through prayer, worshipping together and teaching. This includes:
Beacon Breakfast: Where church members and members of the public can come and have a free breakfast and a time of worship, teaching and discussion about Jesus. This gathering has grown in interest and now regularly sees an average of over 25 people attend each month.
Bright Sparks: A kid's church morning which focuses on helping children and their parents/carers learn more about the stories of the Bible and Jesus in a fun and interactive way.
Life Group: This group meets every Tuesday evening to worship, pray and go deeper into scripture. This group has been a key way of developing relationships with each other and with God.
Prayer Meeting: This group meets weekly to pray for people in the church, those coming towards the church, the community as a whole, the future plans and activities that Gods has for the church. The group also seeks the Lord in situations that may affect the local, national and international context.
## **Activities/events:**
The church has undertaken a variety of events and activities in South Tyneside pointing to Jesus and shining His light in the borough, bringing hope and joy. These include:
- Supporting the local foodbank through food collections;
- Chocolate give-aways on the streets;
- Leaflet drops;
- Sunday services for a local care home;
- Participation in the annual Good Friday Walk of Witness in South Shields;
- Easter celebration and egg hunt in the park for the public to attend;
- Two worship events inviting other local churches to be involved;
- Baptism event where 3 people were baptised;
- 2 family fun events held during the half term holidays;
- Christmas and Mother's Day walks;
- Church bring and shares/socials; and
- Marriage preparation course for two members getting married in August 2025.
## **Fundraising**
We are very thankful for the donations we received from individuals and other churches as The Beacon Vineyard, South Tyneside was established.

We are also very grateful for the ongoing regular offerings, donations and tithes of individual givers on a monthly basis.
Due to the income received, we have been able to invest in:
- our gatherings and activities with things like venues, equipment and refreshments;
- our IT infrastructure, software and subscriptions to enable us to run efficiently, effectively and be compliant; and
- the learning and development of our Senior Pastors.
## **FINANCIAL REVIEW**
## **Financial position**
The charity's income for the period under review amounted to £23,880, expenditure amounted to £10,482. At the balance sheet date total reserves were £13,395, there were no restricted funds.
## **Reserves policy**
The charity has no significant financial commitments, as such the trustees have decided that a formal reserves policy is not necessary.
## **Going concern**
After making enquiries, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the charity has adequate resources to continue for the foreseeable future. Accordingly, they continue to adopt the going concern basis in preparing the annual report and accounts.
## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT**
## **Governing document**
The charity is controlled by its constitution, and constitutes a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.
## **Recruitment and appointment of new trustees**
Every charity trustee must be a natural person. No individual may be appointed as a charity trustee of the CIO: i if he or she is under the age of 16 years; or
ii if he or she would automatically cease to hold office under the provisions of clause 12(1)(e).
No one is entitled to act as a charity trustee whether on appointment or on any re-appointment until he or she has expressly acknowledged, in whatever way the charity trustees decide, his or her acceptance of the office of charity trustee.
At least one of the trustees of the CIO must be 18 years of age or over. If there is no trustee aged at least 18 years, the remaining trustees may only act to call a meeting of the charity trustees, or appoint a new charity trustee.
A charity trustee must subscribe to the Statement of Faith; they should be Christians of good standing; they need to have a disclosure check (through the DBS) without a barred list check; they should show the maturity of judgement but not necessarily of years; and they should bring useful skills to the group (e.g. HR, legal, financial, strategic planning).

## **STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES' RESPONSIBILITIES**
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Report of the Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law, the trustees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law).
Under charity law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources, including the income and expenditure, of the charity for that period. In preparing those financial statements, the trustees are required to
- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
- observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in business.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and The Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.

## **Independent examiner's report to the trustees of The Beacon Vineyard, South Tyneside**
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Beacon Vineyard, South Tyneside (the Trust) for the period 20 August 2024 to 31 March 2025.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the Trust you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act').
I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under Section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under Section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
## **Independent examiner's statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by Section 130 of the Act; or
2. the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a true and fair view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES**
## **Basis of preparing the financial statements**
The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.
The presentation currency of the financial statements is the Pound Sterling (£).
## **Going Concern**
The financial statements are prepared on the going concern basis. In the opinion of trustees, no material uncertainties exist about the charity's ability to continue.
## **Income**
All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.
## **Expenditure**
Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.
## **Tangible fixed assets**
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life.
Musical and stage equipment - 20% on cost Fixtures and fittings - 20% on cost Computer equipment - 33% on cost
## **Taxation**
The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.
## **Fund accounting**
Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.
Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.

## **Cash at bank and in hand**
Cash at bank and in hand includes cash and short term highly liquid investments.
## **Creditors**
Creditors are recognised where the charity has a present obligation resulting from a past event that will probably result in the transfer of funds to a third party and the amount due to settle the obligation can be measured or estimated reliably. Creditors are recognised at their settlement amount net of any trade discounts.
## **Financial instruments**
All financial assets and financial liabilities of the charity qualify as basic financial instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised at transaction value and subsequently measured at their settlement value.
