Cantley Village Hall CIO is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation governed by its
constitution. The CIO was established a5 the incorporated successor to Cantley Village Hall
(Charity No. 10853131.
The trustees of the CIO are the same individuals who previously served as trustees of the
unincorporated charity, ensuring continuity of governance, experience and community
knowledge.
2. Charitable Purposes
The CIO'S purposes are to provide and maintain a village hall for the benefit of the
inhabitants of Cantley and surrounding villages within a six-mile radius, for meetings,
recreation and activities that promote social welfare.
These purposes are identical to those of the predecessor charity.
3. Public Benefit
The trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on pu blic benefit. The
CIO operates the village hall as an inclusive community asset, providing accessible facilities
that support social, recreational. educational and health-related activities for local residents.
4. Activities and Achievements During the Year

The CIO commenced operation5 on 13 August 2024 following incorporation. During the
period, it assumed responsibility for the operation and management of Cantley Village Hall
as part of a structured transfer of assets and activities from the unincorporated charity.
The CIO continued the esta blished programme of hall hires and community use, ensuring no
disruption to users. Trustee focus during the period included..
embedding incorporated governance arrangements,
progressing plans for a new village hall, and
supporhng community engagement and service provision.
5. Financial Review
The CIO prepared its accounts on a Receipts and Payments basis.
Total receipts for the period amounted to £23,084.33, primarily from hall hire and related
income. Expenditure related to the ongoing operation and maintenance of the hall.
Assets and liabilities were transferred from Cantley Village Hall (Charity No. 10853131 by
General Vesting Declaration as pa rt of the incorporation process. As the charity's gross
income for the period was below £25,000, an independent examination was not required
6. Reserves Policy
The trustees aim to maintain reserves sufficient to meet operational costs and provide
financial resilience while developing plans for a new village hall. Reserves will be kept under
regular review as activities expand.
7. Plans for Future Periods
The CIO will continue to operate and develop Cantley Village Hall as a key community asset.
Strategic priorities include..
progressing redevelopment plans for a new village hall,
strengthening community partnerships, and
ensuring long-term financial sustainability.
The trustees also intend to complete the formal wind-up of the predecessor unincorporated
charity.
