Street Pastors Report (Ian Macleod)
Chesterfield Street Pastors are now in their 14[th] year of serving the town centre on Saturday nights, offering care, calm, and a listening ear where it’s most needed. But with only six volunteers left, we are struggling to keep the ministry going. We need at least twelve to make sure each person goes out just once a month and to keep a visible Christian presence on the streets.
Our partnership with CBC’s Community Safety Partnership, all the door staff, and the Police is strong, and it opens real doors for positive conversations about faith. Every patrol strengthens the reputation of local churches and quietly blesses the town.
We have attended the quarterly Nighttime Economy meetings held at Beetwell Police Station and these have strengthened the partnership with Police, CBC and Pub Watch.
2025 in numbers:
-
53 Patrols carried out, including Fridays 31/10 and 19/12. We missed 27/12. On 25 of these patrols there were no Community Safety Officers (CSO) on duty, mainly from Aug onwards.
-
Three people on every patrol, except four occasions with just two, and two occasions with four. Observers came out on three occasions, but none followed through.

Chesterfield Street & School Pastors AGM for 2025
-
Total of 214 hours of sessions, equating to approximately 634 volunteer-hours.
-
Gave out 75 pairs of flip-flops and 186 bottles of water. Collected 544 glass bottles to reduce the risk of injury to the public.
-
341 significant conversations and six occasions where people requested prayer.
-
Provided 52 meals, 36 Pilsley Community Church food bags and 22 sleeping bags.
-
Six received first aid, 18 accompanied to safety and 16 observed to safety. We called for ambulance five times and responded to 36 radio calls, requesting police support twice.
School Pastors (John Kelly)
We continue to provide an invaluable service to Parkside Community School, supporting vulnerable students many of which have special needs. Unfortunately, the team has been reduced by 50% in the last year and we now have only three Pastors actively involved in this intervention support. So, like Street Pastors, we are in urgent need of some new team members if we are to maintain this outreach in the community. Please pray for us!
The reading team has ten members who continue to support 37 students with varying degrees of ability. Not only does this initiative help with reading, but it also develops strong relationships with the students involved. This work has been acknowledged by the school governors and head teacher several times in the last year. We are also running an afterschool chess club, two days per week, with approximately 20 students attending each session. Our total input of volunteer hours is over 50 per week.
The work at Outwood Academy, Newbold, has been limited to monitoring social times and there has been very little input from the school, which is disappointing.
Finally, I would like to say thank you to Maurice, who unfortunately has had to stand down due to ill health. Our prayers are with him – we miss you, Maurice!
Goodbye to Jacky Kendrew
At the end of December Jacky retired from her position of Coordinator, although the handover was delayed until May because of the death of her mum.
Jacky started formally as Coordinator on 1[st] July 2012, although she was involved from the very start, which was before the ministry of Street Pastors was established as a charity (on 14[th] April 2011). This means that Jacky has been involved for longer than anyone else – and that is no mean feat. She has made a significant contribution to the running and promotion of the charity and always went the extra mile in caring for the many volunteers who have been involved over the years. For many years

she held the fort as a Prayer Pastor while the team went out on a Saturday night patrol and this was really appreciated.
Retiring really means re-tyre-ing, as she will now be able to devote more time to supporting the ministry of her home church, New Life. Thank you, Jacky for everything you have contributed to this ministry.
