To advance public education in botany, horticulture, ecology and environmental science at Durham University Botanic Garden which is itself a centre of excellence for education, conservation and research.

Objects: The Objects Of The CIO Are: To Advance Public Education In Botany, Horticulture, Ecology And Environmental Science At Durham University Botanic Garden Which Is Itself A Centre Of Excellence For Education, Conservation And Research, And In Furtherance Of The Objects In Particular But Not Exclusively By: (1) Holding Lectures, Discussions, Demonstrations, Workshops And Seminars; (2) Hosting Guided Tours And Walks Of The Garden And Promoting And Encouraging Visits And Guided Tours To Further The Education Of All Age Groups: (3) Giving Such Horticultural And Operational Assistance To Durham University Botanic Garden, And Practical Assistance To All Staff Through Volunteering Opportunities As The Trustees Shall Decide; (4) Raising Funds For Specific Projects Within Durham University Botanic Garden.
