The object of the CIO is for the public benefit. to advance public education in the art of film by providing and managing a cinema in Colton and surrounding parishes and to promote the knowledge, understanding and the appreciation of film through the showing of films. discussions and by such other means as the trustees deem appropriate. The Trustees have due regard to Charity Commission guidance on public benefit when planning and carryinB out the Cinema's activities. The Club entleavours to meet its objects through the Cinema's broad and varied annual programme and associated activities. Trustees, Report Another year flashes by with many memorable films at The Carthouse and various festivals and special film screenings attended. Once again our eclectic pro8ramme of films was well supported bv members and new comers alike. Mosi of our film shows are attended by more members than non- members, and membershlp remalns at 3 healthy level, although 15 sllghtly down on 2024-25. Last season we showed 19 films in our programme, plu$ 9 private hlre films and 7 private hire presentations. The top films with two showings were The Marching Bond1S51 & The Penguin Lessons 1481. Top single shows were The Outrun {30J Mr Burton (28) ond I'm Still Here1281. The two Supper Specials- The Bollod Of Wt711is Islond & This Is Going To Be Big were popular as always. We welcome the support we can give the Manor over the road. The'boss, & the team give u5 tremendou5 value for our suppers which contribute to their popularity. Two other films stand out, first Civil War which only attracted an audience of 8, maybe we had just had too muth 'war'.... and The Seed of The Socred FAg the only film which brought in a majority of non-members1161- we hope to see them all again. We signed up with the London Mountain Film Festival again with three of us watching over 100 films to select one programme which we showed twice on the same day. This worked better than 2 programmes over 2 days and we plan to repeat this in March 2027. Our film buff Glenn retains the award for chief film watcher. He is a precious source of knowledge and input when we come to choose our new programme. Four of us attended the Keswick Film Festival in March. It always offers some possible films to include in our upcoming season. which makes the trip north well worthwhile. The ICO Ilndependent Cinema Organisationl present 3-5'screenings' each year. These are usuallv pre-release films and once again give u5 material for our new pro8ramme film selection. The committee of 7 trustees continue to meet bi-monthly and apart from the joy of film watching and selecting we check and update our policies. keep tab5 on spending Ithank you Tamsinl and manage a myriad of other admin tasks that committees alway5 do. Our constitution require5 one-third of our Trustee5 to retire each year. Thi5 year it will be Glenn and Carol, but we are pleased to say that both will be standing for re-election at the AGM. We would like to make up the number of Trustees to 8 so rf you feel you could contribute in any way please let us know. Big thanks. as always must go to Roger our poster designer and lain who expertly collates the annual programme and prints our posters. Financial Review Our accounts show a loss of £3,725 for the year, but this Includes the one-off expense of £3,795 for our contribution to the new boiler for The Carthouse. Excludin8 the capital expense for the boiler, the day to day running of OPCC was at the break-even polnt, once again enabling us to keep membership and ticket prices at the current level for the upcoming season. Our cash fund5 at the end of the year were a healthy £11,049. A full breakdown of figures is detailed on the Receipts and Payments report below.
