THE AMPLIFY PROJECT TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025
Trustees present the unaudited financial statements for the year ended 31 March 2025.
The Amplify Project
The charity is exempt from independent examination or audit as the gross income is less than £25,000 in the financial year.
Purposes and Aims
The object of the CIO is for the public benefit to advance education in and appreciation of writing by British Afro-Caribbean authors and writers from other minoritised communities, particularly but not exclusively by presenting a regular series of recorded interviews in the form of a podcast, an accompanying website, and by arranging an annual public event.
Fundraising
The charity aims to raise funds through grants from funding bodies and trusts and foundations, and donations from individual donors.
A funding application to Arts Council England (ACE) submitted in November 2024 was unsuccessful. A second application is planned to be submitted in the next financial year.
Activities
As we were not able to secure funding from ACE the planned series of podcasts and live event were not delivered.
The future
Arts funding has become increasingly difficult to access since the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis. However social tensions around race and gender are increasing and it is important that The Amplify Project continue to document, promote and celebrate the work of Black and Global majority writers. This could include expanding the subject and content created for the podcast and website beyond producing profiles of individuals and their work, as we respond to changes in the social and funding landscape in which we operate.
Recruitment and Appointment of trustees
We currently have 3 directors: Dermot Daly Arti Prashar (Chair) Vedrana Velickovic
Organisational Structure
The CIO operates with two freelancer Producers Patricia Cumper and Pauline Walker.
They engage practitioners and contributors on a freelance basis for each project.
The trustees meet regularly with the Producers. Meetings are quorate with an agenda and are minuted.

For the year ending 31 March 2025 the charity was entitled to exemption from audit as the income was under £25,000.
The trustees acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Charities Commission with respect to accounting records and the preparation of accounts.
These accounts have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to charities.
