2.Structure, Governance and Management

Bisha Cagaaran (Green Month) is governed by a Board of Trustees responsible for strategic direction, policy oversight, and ensuring that the organization operates in accordance with its charitable objectives and applicable laws.

Trustees are appointed in line with the organization’s constitution. The Board meets quarterly and may establish sub-committees for finance, programs, and governance.

Day-to-day operations are delegated to the Executive Director and management team.

3.Objectives and Public Benefit

Our Purpose

Bisha Cagaaran exists to promote public benefit through:

• The conservation of Somalia’s natural environment, including nationwide tree-planting initiatives

• The protection of ecosystems and biodiversity

• The improvement and restoration of physical and natural environments

• Raising environmental awareness and strengthening community participation in sustainable practices.

Public Benefit Statement

The Trustees confirm that the organization’s activities during the year were carried out exclusively for public benefit. Programs were designed to serve communities across Somalia without discrimination.

4. Activities and Achievements (2025)

4.1 Environmental Conservation

• Planted over 150000 seeds in the nursery and distributed trees to public places like hospitals, schools trees across Muqdisho city Strees and community at large.

• Supported reforestation initiatives in degraded lands

• Partnered with local authorities on land restoration projects

• Bisha Cagaaran conducted seminars and lectures about the importance of the environment and invited youth to the Bisha Cagaaran Centre to learn how to plant seeds and about different types of native indigenous trees.

4.2 Environmental Protection

• Community campaigns on tree planting and stopping deforestation

• Addressing coastal desertification, as many cities are facing threats from desertification

4.3 Awareness and Education

• The campaign reached many people through social media and TV.

• Campaigns were conducted for school and university students about deforestation.

5.2 Income Sources

The trustee contributes £100 every month. We currently do not receive any grants, but we occasionally receive small donations from individuals.

We have not received any institutional funding. We also host an event at the end of the year to raise funds.

5.3 Expenditure Areas

• Staff and Administration: Salaries were paid to workers and the driver, and funds were used to purchase nursery materials, motorbike fuel, and water. The administration team did not receive salaries, as all members are volunteers because the organization’s income is too small to cover administrative staff costs.

Trustees confirm that funds were used solely to support the organization’s objectives.

The Trustees regularly review risks affecting the organization, including:

6.0 Plans for 2026

Key Priorities for 2026:

• Expand national tree-planting campaigns by planting more indigenous trees and collecting a large quantity of seeds. Engage youth through tree-planting and seed-

collection campaigns, seek grants and donations to develop a higher-quality nursery, and strengthen climate adaptation programs.

• Build strategic international partnerships.

• Improve monitoring and impact measurement systems.
