Structure, Governance and Management The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and is governed by its constitution, which was adopted upon registration with the Charity Commission on 6 August 2024. The trustees are responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the charity. Trustees meet as needed to review progress, make decisions, and ensure the charity operates in line with its charitable objects and legal obligations. Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity’s constitution. During the charity’s first year of operation, much of the trustees’ focus was on: - Establishing governance structures 1 - Opening a charity bank account - Developing policies and procedures - Setting strategic priorities for future activity - Planning and executing fundraising event All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration. ## 3. Objects and Activities The charity’s object(s), as set out in its constitution, are: To advance the education, the relief of poverty and relief of sickness and preservation of health of children and young people living in the eastern province of Sierra Leone by providing and assisting in the provision of grants, items and services to individuals in need and/or charities, or other organisations working to further such charitable Purposes. During this first reporting period, the trustees concentrated on laying strong foundations to enable the charity to deliver its charitable aims effectively and sustainably. In planning activities, trustees have had regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit and are satisfied that the charity’s activities are carried out for the benefit of the public. ## 4. Achievements and Performance As this was the charity’s first year following registration in August 2024, activities were primarily focused on start-up and development. Key achievements during the period included: - Formal registration with the Charity Commission - Appointment of a full Board of trustees - Development of the charity’s vision, mission, and strategic priorities - Initial planning for fundraising and charitable programmes - Opening of a charity bank account - Launching of the charity's social media platforms (Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook) As this was the charity’s first year following registration, the trustees focused on both establishing the charity’s operational foundations and delivering initial charitable activities. 2 Following the opening of the charity’s bank account in October 2025, the charity was able to begin fundraising and programme delivery. ## Christmas Feeding Appeal During the period of 2024, the charity ran a GoFundMe fundraising campaign to provide food for 20 orphans in the village of Buedu during Christmas 2024. Funds raised through this appeal were used to support a Christmas feeding initiative, helping to ensure that vulnerable children were able to receive meals during the festive period. One of the trustees, Mamako Fallah travelled to Sierra Leone and purchased the food items needed to cook for the children. Photos were uploaded onto the charity's social media platforms, for full transparency with the public that had donated. The trustees confirm that this payment was made solely for charitable purposes, in line with the charity’s objects, and that no trustee received any personal benefit from the transaction. The trustees believe these early initiatives demonstrate the charity’s ability to mobilise support, manage donations responsibly, and deliver tangible public benefit. These activities also provided valuable learning that will inform the charity’s future programmes. ## 5. Financial Review During the reporting period, the charity’s income consisted of donations received from the public. Expenditure during the period was incurred solely in furtherance of the charity’s charitable purposes and primarily related to: - Providing food for orphans in Buedu during the festive period; At the end of the period, the charity held £169.85 in funds. The trustees are satisfied that the charity’s financial position is stable for its current level of activity. The charity has no formal reserves policy at this early stage but intends to develop one as income and activities increase. No trustee received any remuneration or personal benefit during the period, other than the reimbursement of costs incurred wholly and exclusively in furtherance of the charity’s charitable purposes. The trustees have appropriate financial controls in place and review expenditure to ensure funds are used in line with the charity’s objectives. ## 6. Risk management 3 The trustees have considered the major risks to which the charity is exposed, particularly in relation to fundraising and the overseas delivery of activities and have taken steps to mitigate these risks through oversight, careful use of funds, and trustee approval of expenditure. ## 7. Reserves Policy As this is the charity’s first year of operation and income levels are modest, the trustees have not yet adopted a formal reserves policy. This will be reviewed as the charity’s activities and income grow. ## 8. Plans for Future Periods In the next financial year, the trustees plan to: - Further deliver charitable activities in line with the charity’s objects - Expand fundraising efforts to support programmes, - Build partnerships with relevant organisations and communities - Continue strengthening governance and operational policies The trustees are committed to ensuring the charity grows responsibly and delivers meaningful public benefit. ## 9. Statement of Trustees’ Responsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustee Annual Report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records, safeguarding the assets of the charity, and taking reasonable steps to prevent and detect fraud and other irregularities. ## 10.
