## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Mindful Foundation is governed by its founding constitution and operated by a board of trustees with relevant experience in abuse prevention, education, and trauma-informed care. 

## **Objectives and Activities** 

The charity exists to prevent abuse, support recovery, and promote wellbeing through trauma-informed education, early intervention and reoffending prevention with those who have or do engage in violent, abusive behaviour. Our programme, Think Different: Abuse Prevention & Support, is designed to build emotional resilience, self-worth, and safe relationship skills in young people aged 8–16. We have built on Think Different to build Inside Power: Change Starts Within, working on factors associated with violence, selfworth, emotional processing and behavioural change techniques. 

## **Summary of Achievements (2025–2026)** 

During this initial period, we focused on foundational development, including: 

- Designing educational and training materials 

- Completion of the charity’s website 

- Establishing key partnerships and networks in the UK and South Africa 

- Two visit to South Africa running Think Different to children and training community staff 

- Initiating conversations with prisons to run a perpetrator programme. 

- Initiating development and research for perpetrator programme. 



## **Financial Review** 

In the latest financial period: 

- Income: £28,905 

- Expenditure: £27,418 

## **Reserves Policy** 

Given the early stage of development, the charity does not yet operate a formal reserves policy but aims to maintain a small unrestricted reserve to ensure basic operational continuity. 

## **Future Plans** 

In 2026–27, we aim to: 

- Secure funding to expand our work across three prisons in Liverpool 

- Return to South Africa to deliver further programmes 

- Continue strengthening our partnerships with local authorities, Women’s Aid, and NSPCC 

- Train educators and community staff within community hubs and alternative provision schools in Liverpool.

## **1. Basis of preparation** 

The accounts have been prepared from the charity's accounting records for the period 01 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. The financial statements are presented in pounds sterling. 

## **2. Accounting policies** 

Income is recognised when receivable by the charity and expenditure is recognised when incurred. Current assets are stated at the amounts recorded in the accounting records. No liabilities were recorded in the reviewed balance sheet at 31 March 2026.

## **Independent Examiner's Report to the Trustees of The Mindful Foundation** 

## **Charity Registration Number: 1209439** 

I report on the accounts of The Mindful Foundation for the year ended **31 March 2026** , which are set out in the attached financial statements. 

## **Respective responsibilities of the trustees and the independent examiner** 

The trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 and the applicable accounting and reporting requirements. 

The trustees consider that an audit is not required for this charity for the year ended 31 March 2026 and that an independent examination is appropriate. 

It is my responsibility to: 

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act 2011; 

- follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act; and 

- state whether particular matters have come to my attention. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act 2011; or 

- the accounts do not accord with those records; or 

- the accounts do not comply with the applicable accounting requirements concerning the form and content of charity accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008, other than any requirement that the accounts give a “true and fair view” which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination; or 

- there is any matter which should have been disclosed in the accounts in order to comply with the applicable regulations which has not been disclosed. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
