**Objects:** THE OBJECT OF THE CIO IS TO SUPPORT THE ADVANCEMENT OF THE BUDDHIST RELIGION, IN PARTICULAR BY:1. ENCOURAGING AND FACILITATING MEMBERS AND OTHERS TO LIVE ETHICAL, SPIRITUAL, PURPOSEFUL LIVES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE TEACHINGS OF THE BUDDHA; 2. OVERSEEING A PROCESS FOR EXISTING ADHERENTS TO TRAIN FOR ORDINATION INTO THE TRIRATNA BUDDHIST ORDER; AND CONDUCTING ORDINATION CEREMONIES; 3. SUPPORTING THE COHERENCE OF THE TRIRATNA BUDDHIST ORDER WORLDWIDE, THROUGH OFFERING A UNIFIED ORDINATION; 4. SUPPORTING ORDAINED MEMBERS OF THE TRIRATNA BUDDHIST COMMUNITY AND OTHER DULY ORDAINED BUDDHISTS, AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CIO; 5. MAINTAINING CLOSE COMMUNICATION WITH OTHER CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS CONNECTED WITH THE TRIRATNA BUDDHIST ORDER AND COMMUNITY; IN CO-OPERATION WITH OTHER GROUPS WITH THE SAME OBJECTS; AND, 6. USING APPLICATIONS OF THE BUDDHA’S TEACHING TO PROMOTE THE HEALTH AND WELL-BEING OF ALL.

**Activities:** The charity advances the Buddhist religion by overseeing the training and ordination of new members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and by making the teaching of Buddhist as presented by Urgyen Sangharakshita available on an international basis to the general public.
