Achievements and performance

**Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year.**

Since becoming constituted as a CIO in 2024, PlanetAI has held two large scale global Data Challenges in collaboration with Kaggle, a data competition platform held by Google. In both the 2024 and 2025 Data Challenges, PlanetAI were responsible for formulating the problem, developing the materials and data required for the challenge, and providing necessary guidance, knowledge, and support to participants both in advance and throughout the duration of the challenge. Kaggle provided the platform and necessary storage space on which to host the challenge, global promotional support to ensure the widest reach possible, and $50,000 as a prize pool to be passed directly to competition winners. No funding from Kaggle passed through the PlanetAI bank account, nor handled by trustees – the donated prize money passed directly from Kaggle, to winning participants. The Ariel Data Challenge 2024 was held over the three month period of August 1[st] – October 31st 2024. This challenge saw: **-** _**6,951**_ **registrations; - with** _**1,414**_ **active participants; - from** _**75**_ **countries; - contributing** _**23,024**_ **submissions; - averaging more than** _**200**_ **submissions per day.**

The winning team presented their solution at prestigious machine learning conference, NeurIPS, held December 10[th] – 15[th] 2024 The Ariel Data Challenge 2025 was prepared and organised in the first quarter of 2025, to be held between June 26[th] – September 30[th] 2025.
