The ICON charity provides and oversees a multi agency, coordinated Abusive Head Trauma prevention programme aimed at helping all parents and carers in the UK cope with a crying baby. It does this through a series of touchpoints which reinforce the ICON message that, infant crying is normal, comfort methods can help, it's OK to walk away and never, ever shake or hurt a baby.
Objects: The Object Of The CIO Is:the Advancement Of Health And The Saving Of Lives For The Public Benefit In England And Such Other Countries As The Trustees Shall From Time To Time Determine, Through The Provision Of A Multi-Agency, Co-Ordinated Abusive Head Trauma Prevention Programme Designed To: (A) Raise Awareness Of The Risks Of Death And Serious Injury Arising From Traumatic Head Injuries In Babies;(b) Protect Babies From Abusive Head Trauma;(c) Support Parents And Carers With Strategies To Cope With A Crying Baby And To Address And Alleviate The Mental Health Challenges That May Give Rise To.
