Structure, governance and management

As an unincorporated charity, the organisation is controlled by its constitution at latest issue as ratified at Annual General or Extraordinary General Meetings.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees

New trustees are recruited and elected from the charity's membership as required.

Objectives and Activities

The Swindon Community First Responders Charity has been formed to provide a professional charity framework to benefit Community First Responders (CFRs) in Swindon and North East Wiltshire and thus the patients that they attend to when detailed by the South Western Ambulance Service.

The framework includes the provision of fundraising; for, but not limited to, allowing the purchase of updated clinical equipment, additional uniform and other consumables for responders and the upkeep and fuel of the Swindon CFR car.

This allows our CFRs to attend patients in the community, as detailed by the South Western Ambulance Service, providing an initial assessment, including taking of clinical observations, treatment of presenting complaints, within the CFR scope of practice as set out by the South Western Ambulance Service, and if required Basic Life Support (BLS) prior to attendance of a front line Ambulance.

Public Benefit

The trustees have due regard to guidance published by the Charities Commission regarding Public Benefit.

Achievements and Performance - Calls

The charity operates a Ford KA, which has been livered by the South Western Ambulance Service. We do not, at the time of this report, have the full details of the calls attended to by the KA in this financial year.

From the data that we do have [October 24 to April 25], we can see that the KA was sent to 44 Incidents, with 9 of these incidents being CAT1 Calls with 32 being CAT2 Calls and 3 being CAT3 Calls. It was first on scene for 38 Calls and for 4 calls it was the only resource sent.

Achievements and Performance – Fundraising

The charity has been successful in obtaining corporate donations / sponsorship, running several fundraising events as well as obtaining donations from members of the public.

Financial Review

Fundraising during 2024/25 remained focused on gaining support from companies along with community events such as; FI Real Estate Management / The Brunel – Swindon, Rango’s Online Dog Show.
