Objectives and activities
a. Pollcles and oblectlves
The objects ol the CIO are lo advance education al Sl Swilhun's School (The School) for the public benefit by
providing funding, assistance and support in such manner as the Charity Trustees shall delerffline including
IwilhoLJt limilationl the provision of.. IA) bursary support lor the benefit of pupils al the school who would be
unable lo continue in education al the school or who would be unable lo commence education al the school
despite bèing accepted, wilhoul financial assistance. and IBI funding lo the school towards the upkeep and
development of its faGililies.
In selling objectives and planning lor aclivilies, the Trustees have given due consideration lo general guKlance
published by the Charity Commission relating lo public benefit, inclwling the guidance 'Public benefit.. running a
charity IPB21'.
b. Strategle8 for achlevlng oblectlves
To achieve its Gharilable purposes. the Trustees have adopted the lollowng slralegies..
Developing a sustainable bursary programme, ensuring that donations received lor Iranslormational
bursaries are allocated transparently and in accordance with donor inlenlions.
Working in partnership with Sl Swilhun's School lo identify pupils who may benefit from means tested
bLJrsary support and to Ljndersland priorlly areas where funding lor lacililies would have Ihe greatest
impact on educational provision.
Slrenglhening fundraising capacity by cullivaling relationships with donors, alumnae, parents and the
wider school community, and by supporting a calendar ot fundraising events aimed al increasing restricted
income lor bursaries and capital projects.
Building designated reserves over lime. where possible, lo ensure long term suslainabilily ol bursary
support and lo enable the Foundation lo respond flexibly lo lulure funding needs.
Implementing appropriate governance and financial controls, ensuring all decisions relating lo bursaries
and capital contributions are Iransparenl, evidence based. and aligned with the Foundation's charitable
otq'ects.

During the period, the Foundation undertook a sel of activities designed to advanc8 Ils charitable purposes and
encourage support for ils objectives. These included..
Managing the receipt and adminislralion of reslricled donations, particularly those given lor
Iranslomialional bursaries and capital development al St Swithun's School.
Coordinating and supporting fundraising events, including a silent summer auction and Chrislmas hamper
ralllg, Ihal raised funds which were pul towards reslricled charitable purposes.
Engaging with the School's senior leadership team lo understand funding needs and ensure donatlons
were aligned with agreed priorities lor bursaries and facilities.
Preparatory work lor the capllal bullding project, 'Building Active Lives al si Swilhun's,.
Overseeing financial stewardship, including maintaining accurate records ol restricted funds.
commissioning the indep&ndenl examination, and ensuring cornpliarre with the Charity's Conslilulion.
Holding regular trustee meetings lo review funding r￿ueStS, assess bursary needs and monitor the
progress ol capital projects requiring financial support.
These acliwlies rellecl the Foundalion's role as a grant making charity and responsible steward ol donor funds.
d. Main activities undertaken to further the Charlty's purposes for the public benefit
The Foundation's charitable activities during the period delivered public benelS1 by wld8nlng acces8 to education
and contributing to the developrnent ol high quality school lacililies. Specifically..
Building the bursary fund enables lulure support lor pupils who would not otherwise be able lo start or
continue al Sl Swlhun's due lo financial conslrainls, directly Conlribuling ID the advancement ol education
for those with the greatest need.
Supporting capital improvements al the School ensures that facilities remaln modern, sale and accessible,
thereby enhanclng the school environment lor current and future cohorts ol pupils, as well as the wider
community.
Ensuring all reslricled donations are applied sol&ly for Ihoir intended charitable purposes, maximising the
benefit derived from donor generosity and maintaining public Irusl.
Acting in accordance wth the Charity Commission's guidance on publi¢ benefit IPB21 throughout planning
and decision making, ensLJring that the Foundation's work conlribules meaningfully lo widening
educational opportunity and improving outcomes lor young people.
Facililaling fundraising that enables long term community benefit, ensuring that lulure bursary recipients
and the broader school and public community continue lo benefit from enhanced facilities provision.

Achlevemenls and perlormance
a. Maln achlevements ol the Charlty
Announcing and updating the change ol slalus of the Foundation as a CIO wlh the supporting community
through a variety ol communication methods.
The founding three trustees ol the CIO had their first meeting on 26th September 2024.
In January 2025, al the second Iruslee meeting {23rd January), two additional Iruslees were proposed and
unanimously voted in lo join the Iruslee board.
The cohort ol Bramslon beneficiaries for the year remained steady al len and the level ol fundraising
remained in line with theirs and the school's needs.
A lange of supporting fundraising materials and Iwo versions ol a promollonal film were completed lo
launch the major donor fundraising lor the 'Building Active Lives al Swiihun's, fundraising campaign in
spring 2025.
b. Fundralslng actlvllles and Income generation
Retention ol two signif￿an1 major donors for the Bramslon bursaries who have indicated they wlll increase
Ihelr support next year.
Delivery of evenls lo a wider audience. raising the profile ol the Foundation's work.
A successful first Christmas hamper raffle and significant income from the summer silent auction in
SL¢PPOrt of the bursaries programme.
Flnanclal revlew
. Going concern
Aller making appropriate enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has adequate
resources lo continue in 0￿rational existence lor the foreseeable future. For this reason, they continue lo adopt
the going concern basis in preparing the financial slalemenls. Further details regarding the adoption ol the going
concern basis can be found the accounting Policies.
b. Rosgrves policy
The Charity's unreslricled reserves as al the balance sheet dale were £Nil. The going con¢ern ot the Charity is
consldered above.

Generd funds are unreslricled or free reserves which are available lo use al the discretion of the Trustees In
furtheran￿ ol the general objectives of the Charily and which have not been designated lor other purposes.
The Trustees have set a largel level of reserves of £100,000 for translormalional bursaries.

2.1 Basls of preparatlon of flnanclal slatements
The financial slalemenls have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFFIS 1021
Accourkling and Reporting by Charities.. Slalement ol Recommended Practice applicable lo charities
preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and
Republic ol Ireland IFRS 1021 lelleclive 1 January 20191, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in
the UK and Republic ol Ireland (Ffls 1021 and the Charities Act 2011.
The fSnancial slalemenls have been prepared lo give a 'lrue and lairf view and have d&parted from the
Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only lo the extent required to provide a 'lrue and lair,
view. This departure has involved following the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 published in October 2019
rather than the Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Slalemenl of Recommended Practice elleclive
from 1 April 2005 which has since been wilFKlrawn.
The Bramslon Foundation meets the definition of a public benefit entity under FFIS 102. Assets and
liatmlilies are initially recognised al historical cost or transaction value unless otherwise slated in the
relevant accounting FX)Iicy.
2.2 Income
All income is recognised onee the Charity has enlillemenl lo the in¢ome.11 Ss probable that the income wll
be received and the amount ol income recelvable can be measured reliably.

2.3 Expendlture
Expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructive obligation to Iran51er economic benefit
lo a third party, it is probable that a Iransler of economic benefits will be requirod in selllemenl and
the amount ol the obligation can be measur8d reliably. Expenditure is classified by aclivily. The costs
ol each activity are made up ol the lolal ot direct costs and shared costs, including support costs
involved in undertaking each aclivily. Direct costs attributable lo a single activity are allocated directly
lo Ihal activity. Shared costs which contribute lo more than one activity and SUPPDrt costs which are
not allribulable lo a single activity are apportioned between those activities on a basis consislenl wlh
the use ol resoLJrces. Central stall costs are allocated on the basis ol lime spent, and depreciation
charges allocated on the portion ol the asset's use.
Expenditure on raising funds includes all expenditure incurred by the Company lo raise lunds lor ils
charitable purposes and includes costs ol all fundraising activities events and non-charilable trading.
All expenditure is inclusive ol irrecoverable VAT.
2.4 Debtors
Other debtors are recognised at the selllomenl amount.
2.5 Cash at bank and In hand
Ca8h al bank and in hand includes cash and short-lerm highly liquid investments with a short malurily
ol three months or less from the dale ol acquisition or opening ol tho deposit or similar account.
2.6 Flnancial instruments
The Charity only has financial assets and financial liabilities ol a kind that qualify as basic financial
instruments. Basic financial instruments are initially recognised al Iransacllon value and sijbsequenlly
measured al their solllemenl value.
2.7 Fund accounting
Reslricled funds are funds which are lo be used in accordance wlh specific reslri¢lions imposed by
donors or which have been raised by the Charity lor particular purposes. The costs ol raising and
administering such funds are Charged against the specific fund. The aim and use ol each reslricled
fund is sel out in the notes lo the financial slalemenls.

2.8 Going Concem
The Trustees have considered Ihg financial position ol the Charity in assessing whether it remains
appropriate lo prepare th& financial slalemenls on a going concern basis.
At 31 July 2025, the Charity held lolal nel assets 01 £187.502. all ol which are reslricled lunds. These
comprise funds raised for Iranslormalional bursaries1£147,0021 and capital projecls1£20,5001. The
reslricled funds are represented on the balance sheet by cash al bank of £18.087 and a debtor ol
£149,415, being income received Into Sl Swllhun's School's bank account during the period that was
due lo the Foundallon and remains lo be transferred. The Charity had no unrestricted reserves and
no current liabilities al the balance sheet date.
The Charity is in ils first year ol operation, having been constituted as a Charitable IncorFX)raled
Organisation on 15 July 2024. Total income of £184,219 was generated during the p&riod, comprising
reslricled donations of £149,092 and tundraising event incorne of £35,127. Expenditure of £16,717
was incurred on fundraising costs, charged against restricted funds. Th8 nel result is a surplus of
£167,502, all of which is carried forward as reslricled funds.
The Trustees have a larg81 level ol reslricled reserves of £100,000 lor Iranslormalional bursaries,
which has already been exceeded in the first period ol operation. Two significant major donors have
indicated they will increase their support in the next year, providing further confid8nce in the
suslainabilily ol the Foundation's income. The Charity benellls from ils close association wllh Sl
Swilhun's School, which provides adminislralive support and a strong platform for continued
fundraising aclivily. The only commitments that the charity has are the bursaries that it makes lo Si
Swllhun's School and thus the only funds required are those received from the donors.
Aflgr making appropriale enquiries, the Trustees have a reasonable expectation that the Charity has
adequate resources lo continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. For this reason,
they Continue lo adopt the going concern basis in preparing the financial stalemenls.
