The object of Youth Focus South West is to advance in life and relieve
needs of young people. for the public benefil. by..
(a) providing support and activities which develop their skills, capacities
and capabilities to enable them to participate in society as malure and
responsible individuals.
(b) ir7creasing. or ci>ordinating. opportunities for young people to engage
with service providers. to enable those providers to adapt services to better
meet the needs of that community.
(c} providing events and Iraining for organisations and individuals working
with young people lo develop their youth work practice and improve ways
of measuring and reporting on the impact of their work.

This summary recognises the statutory declaration that Iruslees have had
regard to the guidance issued by Charity Commission on public benefit.
In 202415 Youth Focus SoLrth West has undertaken the following activities
in relation to our objects.
Organised training and qualifications for ov6r 50 youth workers and
volunteers working with young people lo enable them to aid young
people to develop the necessary skills and capabilities to
participate in society as mature and responsible individuals.
Our 'Authoring Our Own Stories, projecl has enabled young people
from minorib.sed communities to have their voices heard by
decision makers in their communities, with a view lo designing
servi￿5 that meet their needs
Our regional co-ordination of UK Youth Partiament enables young
people from across the South West lo develop sknlls and
capabilities and find a Vol￿ in their communities and beyond
through peer research projects and producing resource materials
Enabled 40+ youth organisations to learn from each other in
creating the best possible opportunities for young people to
develop skills and capabilities through our Impact Network
Provided 1-1 and small group support lo young people in a
Plymouth high school who are struggling to cope in the educational
environment
We have participated in national forums relating lo young people
and youlh work, in particular sharing good practice in working with
young people dealing with living in increasingly polarised
communities

We conkn'nue to work to expand our Trustee Board and its range of
experien￿ and expertise. As a new CIO we are developing our policy
framework regarding govemance and safe Pfacti¢e in our work with young

We have a small staff team of paid staff, all of whom are part-lime. and are

during the year
We supported Members of the UK Youth Parliament from the
South West region to attend and speak at the Annual Sitting in Ihe
House of Commons in November 2024
The Peer Educators we have supported alongside Plymouth and
District Race Equality Council as part ofthe Authoring Our Own
Stories project presented their findings and the resources they
have produced to a well attended meeting of decision and policy
maker5 from Plymouth and neighbouring districts in January 2025
More than 50 volunteers and youth workers completed their
qualifications iyi youth work as a result of the Bursary scheme that
we manage for the South West region
Our own youth work leamers received their qualification
certificates at a presentation in February 2025
More than 30 youth work organisations have attended our South
West Youth Work Impact Network during 202415
We organised 3 sessions with young people to feed into the
consultation on the govemment's Youth Strategy betsyeen
October 2024 and March 2025.

Brief slatement of the
charity's policy on reserves
Youth Focus South West has a Reserves Policy (adopted September
2024). It stales 'Having considered the charity's financial needs, risks.
and objectives the Trustees believe that a prudent level for reserves is
4/2 months operating expenditure.
For the purposes of this policy. usin9 the current budget as a guideline,
the target for resetves is £25,443.,

Al present the vast majority of our funding comes through grants and
contracts, many of which come to us as the South West lead for the
Network of Regional Youth Work Units. As we develop we aspire lo
diversify our funding SoUr￿s. particularfy looking for funding for projects
in which we can lead independently and benefit the South West region
5pecrfically.
The funding we re￿1ve is entirely used to support the key objectives of
the charity. We aim to keep our overheads and administrative costs as
low as possible.

responsibilities of The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year
trustees and examiner under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an
independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to=
examine the accounts under section 145 of the Chartties Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the
Charity Commission {under section 14515)(b) of the Charities Act, and
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given
examiner's statement by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the
accounting records kept by the charty and a comparison of the accounts
presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual
items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the
trustees con￿mIng any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not
provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit. and
consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true
and fair, view and the report is limited to those matters set out in Ihe
statement befow.
Independent In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my
examiner's statement attention which gives me cause lo believe that in. any malerial respect..
accounting records were not kepl in accordance with seclion 130 of
