Introduction
The function of our group is to provide a safe meeting place to tackle social isolation, provide stimulation and interest for those with time on their hands, i.e. retirement, widowed, unemployment, illness, disability, etc for likeminded people to come together and forge friendships. We are more than just a community group; we are a family! We host creative sessions, workshops and events that bring individuals together, fostering connections and crafting partnerships. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or
just want to give it a go, we invite you to join us in our fun and supportive gatherings! Together, we can make a difference and brighten each other’s lives.
Objectives
Our mission is to combat social isolation, enhance mental and physical well-being and foster a sense of belonging among our members. We address the pressing concerns of loneliness, depression and other health-related issues by offering a safe and welcoming meeting place where attendees can engage in creative activities, forge friendships and develop new skills.
To increase opportunities and to involve people who do not want to do craft work but would enjoy some friendly company, we meet on the first Saturday morning of every month for breakfast in the city centre, we organise Sunday lunches, mid-week lunches, mid-week evening meals, cream teas, currently we are setting up a book club. Sacyr (new Velindre Cancer Centre)
As the main contractor building the new Velindre Cancer Centre in Whitchurch, we are always keen to link in with and support as many local organisations and groups as possible. When we discovered Craftaholics Cymru and the extent of the efforts of their members we were excited to collaborate more. Hopefully, we will be able to offer a new laptop for the group administration plus craftaholics advertises their work on our community platform to raise awareness and encourage new membership. One of their talented members may also be producing handmade table cloth to be used during events which we are very excited about!

Wool on Wheels
I have been bringing the Wool on Wheels van to the group for some time. They are a lovely group of ladies, very friendly, welcoming and full of help and knowledge. They do amazing work for charities and make lovely items for the neo natal unit in the hospital. If you would like to make new friends I would highly recommend coming along to the group.

I have found craftaholics a lively and friendly group of ladies. The age group covers from 30’s-80’s and everyone has enough knowledge and experience in the different crafts to share with the group. Together with the Monday afternoon group several ladies have started a Saturday Brunch meetup and a Sunday Lunch meet up, once a month for those who find themselves at a ‘loose’ end, this is a godsend and as I have been to both groups I have enjoyed the venues chosen, the meals and best of all the company. The group has increased since I joined and we really enjoy each other’s company, tales to tell, and a lot of laughs. May it continue. MM

Craftaholics for me personally has been amazing! It has brought so many people together with all different skills and talents. Everyone supports each other with any problems they have, not only with projects they are doing but also personally for anyone that’s feeling lonely or isolated, this group is a godsend. We have craft fairs, go out for meals and have organised day trips, so nobody need feel lonely. You don’t need to be a crafter to join as everyone in the group is more than willing to teach anybody their personal skills. For me craftaholics has become more of a family than a group. SJ

Website
Community Fund, The National Lottery funded our website which we had up and running by July 2025. This has been a great help to us to inform our members and for the general public/community to inform them of our various activities.

During 2025 we delivered 1,130 items: 434 items to UHW Neo Natal; 194 items to Swansea Hospital Neo Natal; 190 items to Grow Baby, Splott; 85 items to the Salvation Army; 106 nests to Animal Sanctuaries; 72 items to All Nations Church, 41 items to Barnardos at Christmas and 8 items to Thomas Gabriel Home.

SOCIAL EVENTS and ACTIVITIES
We have had several craft fairs, Christmas dinners one during the day and one in the evening, monthly breakfasts and Sunday lunches and midweek lunches. These are all on our website, www.craftaholics.cymru

Our membership is 35, there are no restrictions to joining, all are made very welcome. We meet every Monday.

COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Craftaholics Cymru is established as a community organisation and is experiencing community support from Welsh Water, The Waterloo Foundation, Sacyr, Community Fund - The National Lottery and the 1910 Trust.
FUTURE PLANS
When planning our activities for the year, the trustees consider the CC’s guidance on public benefit.
OUR GOALS
- Funding : seek more funding to enable us to secure a weekly meeting room which would be
more appropriate for our needs and afford us some privacy
- Facebook : make greater use of facebook to advertise our objectives, various crafts, craft fairs
and generally inform those of our activities
