Craftaholics Cymru Registered Charity No 1209062 Trustees Annual Report 2024 - 25 CRIFTAHOLICS tYMRu EST l&

Craftaholics Cymru OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

We are a community group of around 30 members based in Cardiff and surrounding areas.

The objective of our group is to provide a safe meeting place, currently the Pendragon pub in Thornhill, to tackle social isolation, provide stimulation and interest for those with time on their hands, i.e. retirement, unemployment or illness, for likeminded people to come together and learn a new skill or pass their skill onto others.

As a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), incorporated with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (CC) on 10 July 2024, the trustees commend this report of Craftaholics Cymru to the membership.

Quotations from members

“Absolutely amazing for my mental health.”

“Finding out you are not the only one with craft hoarding habits.”

“Nice relaxed atmosphere.”

“Very welcoming, caring and supportive group.”

“Best thing that’s happened to me.”

Craft fairs

We organise local craft fairs, self-funded, which enable our crafters to exhibit and sell their wares.

Any income generated from the sales boosts their confidence and gives them encouragement to continue with their crafting. Our crafters all agree that they not only enjoy their crafting but think that it contributes to their wellbeing, both physical and mental.

During April 2023-24 we raised for charity an incredible £991.13 by organising raffles and tombolas at these fairs.

We have raised money and donated to: Alzheimer’s Society, Marie Curie, Hearing Dogs, Velindre Hospital, Noah’s Ark, Llanishen Evangelical Church, Latch Welsh Children’s Charity, Salvation Army, Wales Air Ambulance and various animal charities.

These fairs also provide an opportunity for individual stall holders to raise money for their own individual charities.

It also provides stimulation, interest and is an opportunity for people to meet up.
