Structure, governance and management

Catch The Fire Hillingdon is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) foundation registered on 10[th] July 2024 with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

New trustees are appointed by the current trustees in accordance with the governing instrument.

Objectives and activities

The object of the charity is to advance the Christian religion for the benefit of the public throughout the London borough of Hillingdon, Greater London, and throughout the United Kingdom or internationally as the Trustees from time to time may see fit, in particular but not exclusively through church services, the holding of prayer meetings, worship meetings, lectures, public celebration of religious festivals, providing pastoral care and carrying out missionary and evangelistic work.

Public benefit

The charity trustees have complied with the duty in section 4 of the 2006 Charities Act to have due regard to the guidance on public benefit published by the Charity Commission in exercising their powers and duties.

Financial review

Total income for the year was £94,885. 95% of the charity’s income is sourced from donations by church members and Gift Aid.

Total expenditure was £79,446, of which 70% was salaries.

At the end of the year the charity held unrestricted reserves of £15,439.

As a reserves policy, the charity would like to have enough unrestricted funds to cover three months’ running costs at any given time, which would equate to approximately £19,000. This is the first year of the charity and we expect to build the reserves next year to cover three months’ running costs.

Highlights of Activities

This was the first year of the charity, and it began public meetings on Sunday 1[st] September 2024. Based at Bishop Winnington-Ingram Church of England Primary School, CTFH hosts Sunday morning public church meetings, as well as Ad Hoc work with the primary school through hosing assemblies and support at key school events.

As part of the initial beginnings of the church, we were able to install a new PA system for the school’s use as well as ours, which dramatically improved their AV experience.

One of the initial mandates the Church Leaders, Dan & Ashley Davison, felt was to build and establish community, throughout the autumn of 2024 this was achieved, and we saw a regular church attendee base established.

In December 2024, CTFH employed its first paid staff, Dan & Ashley Davison as Lead Pastors, and Claire Hockey as Children’s Pastor. We also have a great volunteer base, most notably Tiffany Phillips in her role as volunteer Youth Pastor, and Benjamin Sharpe as volunteer Head of Worship.

Praveen Irudayaraj stepped down as trustee, and Sarah Mburu was appointed 17[th] December 2024.

In Q2 of 2025 we saw a downturn in giving, and so did some cost saving, and giving increase measures. This was achieved through the sale of equipment that was not needed, and through the voluntary reduction of hours for Ashley Davison as she secured employment elsewhere, she still holds the post of Lead Pastor. A giving drive saw monthly income increase again, and the funds began to grow.

In Q3 we were able to help with a few fundraising and outreach activities in the school, which had community impact, and raised awareness of us as an organisation. We ran a stand at the school summer fair offering refreshments and prayer to those who wanted it. We also provided AV and Tech for the school leavers annual production and for the first time the children and families received a full video production of the performance.

In the summer we ran a reduced church schedule, with a focus on community connection and a small group attended Big Church Festival. We ran community walks, picnics and had several BBQs, all of which were well attended.

As we reflect on our first year of operation, we have had a good year building solid foundations for a bright future for the charity.

Trustees’ responsibilities

Charity law requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of its financial activities for that year. In preparing those financial statements the trustees are required to:

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER’S REPORT

I report on the receipt and payments accounts of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2025, which are set out on pages 6 & 7.

The charity’s trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (the Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed.

My examination was carried out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair view’ and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
