## **REPORT OF THE TRUSTEES**

## **FOR THE PERIOD 9 JULY 2024 TO 31 MARCH 2025**

The Trustees have pleasure in submitting the Report and Accounts for the period 9 July 2024 to 31 March 2025.

## **Objects of the charity**

The charity, which is a church, is governed by a constitution and is constituted as a charitable incorporated organisation. The charity's principal objects, as set out in its governing document, are:

a) to advance the Christian faith in the UK and elsewhere

b) produce and distribute literature on Christiantiy to enlighten others

## **Summary of the charity's main activities and achievements**

To further the above objects and vision, the charity's main activities and achievements were as follows:

Every Friday of the year there is bible class carried out by Rev. Thomas Samuel which is open to all. Various topics and books of the bible are discussed and taught.

In August 2024 Vacation Bible School was held from 22[nd] to 24[th] August 2024. This is a 3 day retreat for children with fun filled activities, workbooks and songs promoting the Christian Faith. The event was open to public.

On 28th September 2024, one of our teenage children was baptized and added to the church family.

In December 2024 we visited care homes and part of our outreach and Christmas greeting. During December we visited Colinson Care Home, Little Bramingham Farm and Caddington Grove.

During our Christmas programme we held a service on 21[st] December 2024: An evening of carols and skits declaring the birth of Christ and also the lift of Jesus to the death and resurrection shared to all. The program was open to the public and everyone was invited.

In April 2025 a family and life-based retreat was held on 18[th] and 19[th] April 2025, where daily life struggles and other issues were discussed and remedial practices and advice were shared to all who attended.

Spring Valley Church provided 20 freshly cooked and frozen meals to Azalea Luton every month, to help support their work among sex trafficked victims.

In planning the activities the Trustees have applied the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission.

## **Financial review**

During the period income was £69,637 (including £40,280 opening funds in), and expenditure was £22,077. At the end of the year cash held by the charity was £47,560 of which £46,669 is unrestricted and can be used for any charitable purpose.

## **Reserves policy**

As the charity was recently registered in May 2024, the trustees do not yet have a reserves policy in place, however considering the period-end cash at bank and existing commitments, the trustees are satisfied that there are sufficient funds to meet any liabilities for at least the next 12 months. The trustees will discuss the implementation of a formal reserves policy over the coming year.

## **Governance**

Responsibility for setting policy and for making operating decisions rest with the trustees who meet regularly to monitor the activities of the charity. New trustees are recruited and appointed by the existing trustees, by a majority vote.

## **Responsibilities of trustees**

Charity law requires us as Trustees to prepare financial statements for each accounting year which record the receipts and payments of the charity for the year.

We are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable us to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011.

We also have a responsibility to safeguard the assets of the charity and to take reasonable steps to prevent fraud or any other irregularities.

## **Approval**

This report was approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf by: Thomas Samuel

## **NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS**

## **FOR THE PERIOD 9 JULY 2024 TO 31 MARCH 2025**

## **1 Accounting policies**

The accounts have been prepared on a receipts and payments basis and comprise a statement that shows the charity's receipts and payments, a statement that summarises the charity's assets and liabilities and related notes. The accountancy profession have determined that only accounts prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards present a 'true and fair' view and, as these receipts and payments accounts have not (and cannot) be prepared in accordance with accounting standards, these accounts do not present (and are not intended to present) a 'true and fair' view of the charity's financial activities and state of affairs.

General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity. Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the trustees for particular purposes. Restricted funds are donations which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors; they include donations received from appeals for specific activities or projects.
