Reynalton Village Hall
Chair’s Report, November 2025
Charitable Incorporated Organisation
As stated at the last AGM the Reynalton Residents Association applied and was successful in gaining status as a CIO, subject to name change to Reynalton Village Hall. The RRA has officially been wound up and all finances and assets associated with RRA have been transferred to Reynalton Village Hall CIO. We are in the process of applying to legally transfer ownership of the village hall to the CIO.
The objects of the CIO are to further or benefit the residents of Reynalton and the neighbourhood , without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or of political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
The Village Hall
Other than general maintenance no works have been carried out on the village hall itself in this past year. Potholes have been filled and repaired on the car park/roadside in terms of safety measures for users of the hall as this was deemed by PCC to be the responsibility of the village hall. We are currently in talks with PCC regarding water flow down Church Lane onto the village green and to the lobby of the village hall to explore what measures can be taken to prevent any associated damage.
In the future it is hoped that we may be able to secure funding to make improvements to the toilet area as this is single skin building and regularly suffers from damp as well as there being a regular issue with a leak in the men’s.
Village Green & Community
Residents will be aware that we are committed to keeping the area tidy and to improving outside space for the village. Members of the committee have spent time in keeping the green maintained so that, weather permitting, the benches can be used and enjoyed. The village green will continue to be a focus for the coming year and we hope to secure funding from the Co-op to help with developments. At least one organised litter pick has been held this last year. We continue to offer the bus shelter book exchange from April to October which has been well used again this year. All books are donated to charity at the close of season.
We continue to have the defibrillator, which the village hall purchased, located in the telephone box and training on how to use it was delivered by Tony, First Responder, on 7[th] March 2025. This was well attended, and we are grateful to have so many residents trained to use this life saving piece of equipment.
Village Hall Events
Throughout the past year we have held events in the village hall which have been affordable and accessible for residents to attend.
On 8[th] February 2025 we held the ‘belated’ annual Christmas party which comprised of various entertainment including quiz, bingo, raffle and music. The original date of 6[th] December coincided with a red weather alert, so the party had to be cancelled. Mince pies, stollen and snacks were provided as part of the ticket price, and a licensed cash bar was available. The event was a great success. This year’s party is due to take place on 28[th] November.
On 26[th] April 2025 we held a bingo night. This was a great success, and we were extremely grateful for the bingo caller giving up her time for free and for the many donated prizes. A licensed cash bar was available at this event.
On 21[st] September 2025 we held a village walk from Reynalton into Loveston woods and returned to the village hall for tea and coffee. This walk is now accessible thanks to collaboration between the village hall committee and Cllr Alistair Cameron in campaigning and applying for funding so that PCC reinstated the bridge and cleared footpaths in the woods.
On 28[th] November 2025 we will be holding our annual Christmas party in the village hall. More details will be published soon. We will once again place and light up a Christmas tree on the village green for all to enjoy.
As a committee we try to provide events that are attractive, affordable and accessible for all. Foremost our aim is for people to enjoy and use the hall but to also raise funds to keep the fabulous village resource maintained and open which is why all contributions from events are ploughed back into the village hall. We are always grateful for the support from residents in attending events and making them successful. It takes a lot of effort and time in staging events which most often falls upon the small committee to do for which I, and I am sure yourselves, are extremely grateful for. We would very much welcome suggestions for future events and any offers of help and support.
Rental of Village Hall
Societies continue to use the village hall on a regular basis, and new members are always welcome:
Mondays – Short mat bowls Tuesdays, 2[nd] of the month – History Society Wednesdays, 1[st] of the month – WI Thursdays – Whist

Vote of Thanks
As Chair I would like to extend my sincere thanks to committee members who continue to give up considerable time and put in huge amounts of effort voluntarily to run the village hall, to stage events and to maintain the upkeep of the village green. On behalf of the committee, I would also like to extend our thanks to Cllr Alistair Cameron for his attendance unwavering support to the committee and to the village.
