## **– Report from Our Chair Jayne Curtis**

2

We have had a very busy and productive year. Here is a summary of our main achievements:

- A full year of coffee mornings, bringing the community together and adding over £2,000 of income to the village hall funds

- A very popular new coffee machine (donated by a friend of the hall)

- Installed an audio-visual system with screen and projector, which has directly brought in an additional £1000 income for the hall as well as attracting new users

- Set up Catton Film Club which is steadily building up membership and has been approached by Tynedale Film festival to host a screening

- Our hall partition curtains with decorated staging area were completed

- We gained 55 nearly new cushioned seats (donated by Kibblesworth Methodist Church)

- A new outside electric point was installed (donated by Bentley)

- Our much complimented outside Christmas lights were installed (donated by a local family)

- We had a very popular Christmas Winter Wonderland event, which we hope to build upon this year

- Our website is up and running

- Summer fair was very successful, the rain was thankfully brief and it raised over £2,500

## Future Plans

- New windows and doors to be fitted in Sept/Oct

- Floor to be refurbished in Oct

- Catton Village Hall Centenary Celebration (10.10.25)

- Return of the Christmas Winter Wonderland and Santa’s Grotto (06.12.25)

- Hall to be decorated

- Breach of damp course in the rear entrance and rotten wood at gable end to be inspected by appropriate professionals and repaired

- We continue to be an active part of Catton village life

## **Notes to accounts:**

- 1- Accounts prepared by treasurer John Gray

- 2- Turnover is under £25000, therefore external oversight is not legally required

- 3- 2024 accounts corrected. Professional fee payment of £500 moved to 2025

- 4- Accounting is on a cash basis

- 5- Following a price revision and improved income, the hall running costs are now covered by hire and the coffee mornings

- 6- Capital expenditure consists of the new sound and film system and the deposit for the new doors and windows.

- 7- Hall financial policy is to maintain a minimum balance of £7000 cash in hand. This a prudent assessment of the amount needed to ensure the Hall continues to operate for 12 months in the event of unforeseen problems.

- 8- It is also policy not to maintain balances above £7000 for a long period.

- 9- Interest rate. Normally, the best interests of the charity would be served by obtaining a good rate of interest in an appropriate savings account. However, due to plans for further improvements to the building, it is not considered necessary.
