**Medical Research**

Relationship established with one of
the UK's leading Professors of
Paediatric Mitochondrial Medicine
who now serves as the charities
medical advisor based at the
Mitochondrial Research Group at
Newcastle University with a view to
funding research in the near future.
**Raising awareness:**

The charity raises awareness
amongst the public and
professionals through public
speaking events, marketing, UK and
international fundraising campaigns
& events, social media and via the
press through written copy, radio
and television.
**Support families:**

The charity provides financial
support to individuals (families
affected by paediatric mitochondrial
disease) and organisations including
Ronald McDonald House Charities
(Birmingham), Alexander Divine
Children’s Hospice and Birmingham
Children’s Hospital.|

**Research:**

medical research PhD into Alper’s
Syndrome under his guidance.

television, radio and other media as
well as in-person awareness raising
events. This supports beneficiaries
by raising the profile of paediatric
mitochondrial disease and
particularly, PolG.
**Support families:**

Creating a community of families
locally and nationally for support,
guidance and companionship.

Providing funds to provide resources
to families whose children suffer
from these diseases. For example,
donations to Ronald MCDonald
house, Alexander Devine Children’s
hospice, and Birmingham Children’s
Hospital palliative care team.

**Risk**: Macro economic environment. There
appears to be less opportunities to secure
grants in the charity sector.
**Mitigants**: Grants are only a very small
amount of the charity’s income so this is not
a major concern.
**Risk:**Seasonal income. Typically, there is
more income/funds raised in the summer
months than the winter months.
**Mitigant:**This is typical for a charity like
ours which relies on, to some extent, funds
raised through summer sporting
activites/events. This is frequently
discussed and reviewed and we seek to
hold winter (such as our winter ball) to
supplement and offset this appropriately.
**Risk**: Rising costs. As the charity has grown
the costs have risen to.
**Mitigant:**Monthly costs continue to be
typically below c.20-30% of
monthly/quarterly income which is very
healthy and not a concern. Rather it is
something which is monitored.|

## **Independent examiners report to the Trustees of The Noah Jordan Foundation**
I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts for Alive UK (“the charity”) for the period ended 4 April 2025.
## **Responsibilities and basis of report**
As the charity trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the 2011 Act”).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act.
## **Independent examiner’s statement**
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:
1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the 2011 Act; or
2. the accounts do not comply with these records
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
