Charity’s Objectives

The objects of the CIO are to establish and run a community centre and recreation ground and to promote events and activities for the benefit of the inhabitants of North Bitchburn and surrounding area specifically:

Organisation’s structure and governance

The organisation has a board of trustees which directs development and is accountable for financial management. Currently there are no paid staff.

Risk Management

The organisation has a written risk management policy; as it is in development the current financial risks are low. The Trustees have carried out a risk assessment and are confident that, at the present time, exposure to risk is minimal

Achievements and performance

The trustees meet regularly and are securing a 30 year lease on the North Bitchburn Cricket field and pavilion at a peppercorn rent. The process of applying for and complying with further requests has been protracted but it is now almost complete and the organisation is confident that the lease will be granted.

The organisation has carried out a comprehensive survey of the villagers, put together a development plan based on the survey and research into other local provision and commissioned a feasibility plan with costings to upgrade the pavilion and field to a good standard. The feasibility study is complete which, together with the development plan, gives the organisation a clear picture of their forward plan.

Alongside the organisation’s forward planning it has provided events and activities which have been well attended. These include:

Easter Egg Hunt

Summer BBQ

VE Day Celebration

Fireworks and Halloween + BBQ

Remembrance Service

Christmas activities

The organisations campaigns for traffic calming in the village and carries out fundraising activities which are well supported.

The organisation holds general village meetings of members to give updates and to gather ideas and feedback on events and activities.
