The timeline of support illustrates Zacs Fund’s commitment to supporting bereaved parents throughout the first year after the loss of a child. Each stage is designed to provide small but meaningful acts of consolation at carefully considered intervals.

These touchpoints and thoughtful gestures on significant anniversaries ensure that families feel remembered, supported, and cared for throughout the year, reflecting Zacs Fund’s mission to bring comfort and compassion in moments of profound grief.

## **Achievements and Performance**

During the year under review, Zacs Fund focused on establishing the foundations necessary to operate as a fully registered charity. This involved significant background work to ensure appropriate governance, compliance, and systems were in place before services could be delivered.

A key priority was building strong partnerships with local children’s hospices, recognising that these settings are often the first point of contact for families experiencing the loss of a child. Through these efforts, Zacs Fund was able to create trusted referral pathways and prepare to deliver meaningful support.

On 14 April 2025, Zacs Fund officially went live and began accepting family referrals. This milestone marked the transition from set-up to active service delivery. As a result, there was no charitable expenditure recorded in the first financial year, with resources instead directed towards preparation and partnership development.

## **Financial Review**

- Legacy Funds: £ 56,427.00 (shown on accounts as reserves)

- Income: £2,402.00 (donations and fundraising events).

- Expenditure: £437.00

The charity remains financially stable, with sufficient reserves to continue its work.

## **Reserves Policy Statement**

Zacs Fund is committed to maintaining a prudent level of reserves to ensure the charity can continue to deliver its mission of supporting bereaved parents with compassion and practical resources.

As this was our first year of operation, charitable expenditure was limited while the charity established its governance, partnerships, and referral pathways. At year end, Zacs Fund held **legacy donations of £56,427** carried forward.

The trustees have considered the ongoing financial needs of the charity and forecast that annual overheads will be approximately **£10,000** once fully operational. In line with good practice, the trustees aim to maintain reserves equivalent to at least **12 months of core overheads** to safeguard the charity against unforeseen circumstances and ensure continuity of support.

Accordingly, the trustees have designated **£10,000** as a minimum reserves target, with the balance of funds available to be applied directly to charitable activities. The trustees will review the reserves policy annually to ensure it remains appropriate as the charity grows and develops.

## **Structure, Governance and Management**

- Zacs Fund is governed by its constitution and managed by a board of trustees.

- Trustees meet quarterly to review progress, plan and discuss future fundraising initiatives, and oversee compliance.

- The charity has no paid staff; all activities are delivered by volunteers and trustees.

## **Plans for the Future**

In the coming year, Zacs Fund aims to deepen its reach and strengthen its presence within the community. Our focus will be on expanding partnerships, enhancing fundraising, and building recognition as a trusted source of support for bereaved parents.

- Keep working closely with hospices and other settings that families come into contact with.

- Partner with two additional hospices to widen the number of families we can reach and assist.

- Strengthen fundraising efforts through a full calendar of community events and online campaigns, including collaboration with a local branch of a national supermarket by enrolling in their _Community Matters_ scheme.

- Further raise awareness of Zacs Fund, so it becomes a recognised trusted charity, front of mind when people think if grief support for parents.
