Friends of Maiwut is a registered charity governed by its charitable constitution. 

The charity is managed by the trustees, who are responsible for the governance, administration, and proper application of the charity's resources in furtherance of its charitable purposes. Trustees meet as required to review the charity's position, consider future opportunities, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations. 

## **Appointment of Trustees** 

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity's governing document. When vacancies arise, the existing trustees identify individuals who have sympathy with the charity's objects and the skills, experience, or commitment needed to support its work. 

New trustees are informed of their duties and responsibilities under charity law, including Charity Commission guidance.

## **Charitable Objects** 

The objects of the charity are: 

1. The advancement of the Christian faith in the Diocese of Maiwut and in the Episcopal Church of South Sudan. 

2. The relief of poverty in the Diocese of Maiwut and South Sudan. 

## **Activities During the Year** 

During the reporting period, the charity had no incoming resources and did not undertake any grantmaking, fundraising, or project expenditure. 

The trustees nevertheless continued to maintain the charity's governance arrangements, review potential future opportunities to support the Diocese of Maiwut and communities in South Sudan, and keep the charity in a position to resume active operations when resources become available. 

## **Public Benefit Statement** 

The trustees confirm that they have referred to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the charity's aims and planning future activity. 

## **4. Achievements and Performance** 

The charity recorded no operational activity during the year due to the absence of income. 

The trustees' principal achievement during the year was maintaining the charity as a compliant and functioning charitable body, ready to support future charitable work aligned with its objects when funding or other opportunities arise. 

The trustees consider that preserving this capacity continues to provide public benefit through preparedness to advance religion and relieve poverty in areas of need.

## **Reserves Policy** 

As the charity had no incoming resources or expenditure during the year, the trustees have not adopted a formal reserves policy. Any future unrestricted funds will be held at a prudent level to support planned charitable activity and essential administration.

The charity had no outstanding liabilities at the year end.
