Compassionate Humanity is constituted under a governing document that outlines its charitable purposes and operational framework. As a recently registered charity, its foundational documents are in place to ensure compliance with Charity Commission regulations.

The charity operates with a lean organizational structure, primarily managed by its trustees. The trustees are responsible for the overall control and management of the charity, ensuring that all activities align with its mission and charitable objectives. The charity aims to maintain transparency and accountability in all its operations. 

## **Recruitment and Appointment of Trustees** 

Compassionate Humanity follows a structured and inclusive approach to recruiting and appointing trustees. The process includes: 

• Board Skills Audit: The charity regularly assesses the skills, experience, and diversity of its current board to identify gaps and future needs. 

• Open Recruitment: Trustee roles are advertised publicly through charity networks, volunteer platforms, and social media to attract a wide range of candidates. 

• Role Descriptions: Clear and detailed role profiles are provided, outlining responsibilities, time commitments, and expectations. 

• Eligibility Checks: All applicants are screened to ensure they meet legal requirements and are not disqualified from serving as trustees. 

• Selection Process: Shortlisted candidates are interviewed by current trustees and senior staff. Selection is based on alignment with the charity’s values, skills needed, and commitment to its mission. 

• Formal Appointment: Successful candidates are formally appointed by the board and registered with the Charity Commission. 

## **Induction and Training of Trustees** 

Compassionate Humanity ensures new trustees are well-prepared and supported through: 

• Comprehensive Induction Pack: New trustees receive documents including the charity’s governing documents, strategic plan, financial reports, and key policies. 

• Orientation Meetings: Introductory sessions with the Chair, CEO, and other trustees help new members understand the charity’s operations and culture. 

• Training Opportunities: Trustees are encouraged to attend external governance training and internal workshops on topics such as safeguarding, fundraising, and financial oversight. 

• Ongoing Development: The board regularly reviews training needs and provides updates on regulatory changes and sector developments.

The chartty owns a laptop1£317.75) and a sound speaker (£500.00), used for
administrative and outreach purposes. These are recorded at cost and depreciated in
line with the charity's accounting policy.

## **Principal Funding Sources** 

The charity's principal funding sources during this period included inward payments and a significant grant received in October 2024. These funds are crucial for supporting the charity's operational costs and program delivery. 

## **Reserves Policy** 

As a newly established charity, Compassionate Humanity is in the process of developing a comprehensive reserves policy. The current financial position reflects the initial phase of operations, with efforts focused on establishing a stable financial foundation to ensure longterm sustainability and the ability to respond to unforeseen circumstances. 

## **Plans for Future Periods** 

Compassionate Humanity plans to continue expanding its reach and impact, focusing on sustainable growth and effective program delivery. The trustees will regularly review the charity's financial performance and strategic objectives to ensure continued progress towards its mission. 

## **Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities** 

The trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards. They are also responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and to enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
