## **1. Introduction**
## **1.1 Charitable Objects**
The charities objects are to relieve the need of women suffering domestic abuse, postnatal depression and/or other disadvantages through:
- A) Providing advice/mentoring and training which provides employability skills
- B) Providing support to develop and gain new skills, confidence and independence to reintegrate back into work and society
- C) In such ways as the trustees may determine

The charity was dormant this year with no activities taking place. The trustees hope to resume charitable activities next year.

## **2.2 Policies on Grant-Making and/or Social Investments**
## **1. Purpose of the Policy**
**This Grant Making Policy sets out the principles, criteria, and procedures governing the award of grants by The Banwait Foundation. It also explains how grant making supports the Charity’s wider work of providing services, advocacy, advice, and information to its beneficiaries.**
## **2. Charitable Aims**
**The Banwait Foundation operates for the public benefit and makes grants in furtherance of its charitable objects, which include:**
- **The prevention or relief of poverty;**
- **The promotion of human rights, equality, diversity, and racial or religious harmony;**
- **The support, inclusion, and empowerment of people with disabilities;**

- **The advancement of equality and opportunity for people of particular ethnic or racial origins and other defined groups experiencing disadvantage;**
- **The provision of services, advocacy, advice, and information to support the above aims.**
**All grants awarded must clearly further one or more of these purposes.**
## **3. Principles of Grant Making**
**The Banwait Foundation’s grant making is guided by the following principles:**
- **Public Benefit – Grants must provide clear benefit to individuals or communities in need.**
- **Equality and Inclusion – Grant making will promote inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunity.**
- **Transparency – Decisions will be based on clear criteria and properly recorded.**
- **Accountability – Grant recipients must use funds only for agreed charitable purposes.**
- **Independence – Grants will not support party-political activity or improper influence.**
## **4. Eligible Beneficiaries**
**The Banwait Foundation may award grants to organisations or, in exceptional cases, individuals who work with or belong to the following beneficiary groups:**
- **People with disabilities;**
- **People of a particular ethnic or racial origin;**
- **Other defined groups identified by the Trustees as experiencing disadvantage or exclusion.**
## **Grants may support the delivery of:**
- **Frontline services;**
- **Advocacy work;**
- **Advice and information services;**
- **Projects that improve access to rights, support, or opportunities.**
## **5. Ineligible Applications**

## **The Banwait Foundation will not award grants for:**
- **Activities that are not charitable in law;**
- **Party-political activity or political campaigning;**
- **Religious promotion or proselytising that does not further the Charity’s objects;**
- **Activities that promote discrimination, hatred, or undermine human rights;**
- **Retrospective funding, unless expressly approved by the Trustees.**
## **6. Grant Priorities**
## **In making grant decisions, priority may be given to projects that:**
- **Provide practical services or advice to people facing poverty or disadvantage;**
- **Offer advocacy to protect or advance human rights;**
- **Improve access to information, support, and essential services;**
- **Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion;**
- **Address barriers faced by disabled people and defined community groups.**
## **7. Application Process**
- **Applications must be submitted in writing using the Foundation’s approved application process.**
- **Applicants must provide sufficient information to enable assessment of eligibility, need, and anticipated impact.**
- **Additional information may be requested where necessary.**
## **8. Decision-Making**
- **Grant decisions are made by the Trustees of The Banwait Foundation or by a delegated Grants Committee.**
- **Decisions will be taken in accordance with this policy and the Charity’s governing document.**
- **Trustees must declare conflicts of interest and withdraw where appropriate.**
## **9. Payment and Conditions**
- **Grants may be paid as a single payment or in instalments.**
- **Conditions may be attached, including reporting and monitoring requirements.**
- **The Banwait Foundation reserves the right to withhold, suspend, or recover funds if conditions are not met.**
## **10. Monitoring and Reporting**
- **Grant recipients may be required to provide progress and/or final reports.**
- **Monitoring will be proportionate to the size and risk of the grant.**
- **Evidence of expenditure and outcomes may be requested.**

The charity has given no guarantees where potential liability under the guarantee is outstanding at the date of this statement.

## **5.1 Statutory Declaration**
The Trustees confirm that they have paid due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit in deciding what activities the charity should undertake.
## **5.2 Trustee Selection Methods**
There must be at least three charity trustees. The maximum number of trustees is 12.
In accordance with the Constitution, Trustees are appointed or re-appointed for a term of three years by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
In appointing Trustees due consideration is given to ensuring that the Trustees have, between them, the skills and experience necessary to manage the charity effectively and in accordance with charity law.

## **Trustees' Report**
The Trustees present their annual report and accounts for the first period ended 01[st] April 2025. During
this period, the charity had dormant accounts.
## **Structure, governance and management**
The Charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Foundation, as a body corporate under Part 11 of the Charities Act 2011 on the 24[th] June 2024. The CIO registered with the Charity Commission on the same day.
Trustees are legally responsible for the governance and management of the charity. Trustees are responsible of setting strategies and policies for ensuring these are implemented.
## Risk management
The charity's trustees have considered the major risks to which the charity is exposed and have reviewed potential risks. Systems and procedures have been put in place to manage the risks and to mitigate any adverse outcomes.
## **Objectives and activities**
The governing scheme defines the charity's objects as being to:
1. The prevention and relief of poverty.
2. Human Rights/religious or Racial Harmony/equality or Diversity
3. Other Charitable Purposes
## **Achievements and Performance**
The CIO was dormant during this period.
## **Financial review**
No transaction took place during this period.
## **Future plans**
The Banwait Foundation (Charity no 1208788) is expected to start its fundraising soon.

## **Trustees' responsibilities statement**
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England & Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
- select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently;
- observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP;
- make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
- state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;
- prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities

## **1. Accounting policies**
## (a) Basis of preparation
The accounts have been prepared in accordance with the receipts and payments basis in accordance with the Charity Commission guidance.
## (b) Charity status
The Charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) Foundation, as a body corporate under Part 11 of the Charities Act 2011 on the 24 June 2024. The CIO registered with the Charity Commission on the same day.
## Fund accounting
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity and which have not been designated for other purposes.
Restricted funds are funds which are to be used in accordance with specific restrictions imposed by donors or which have been raised by the charity for particular purposes. The cost of raising and administering such funds are charged against the specific fund. The aim and use of each restricted fund is set out in the notes to the financial statements.
## (d) Receipts
All incoming resources are included in the Receipt & payment Accounts when the charity actually obtains legally entitled income.
## (e) Payments
All expenditure is accounted for on payments basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all costs related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with use of the resources.
## **2. Member liabilities**
The members of the CIO have no liability to contribute to its assets and no personal responsibility for settling its debts and liabilities.
## **3. Debt outstanding**
There is no particulars of any debt outstanding at the date the statement of assets and liabilities which is owed by The Banwait Foundation and which is secured by an express charge on any of the assets of The Banwait Foundation.
## **4. Related Parties**
## **Controlling entity**
The charity is controlled by the trustees. During the year the Trustees received no emoluments or incurred any expenses using Trust funds.
