## **Annual Church Report 2024-2025 of** ## **St Hybald’s Antiochian Orthodox Christian Community** Reg no1208759 ## 185 Ashby Rd, Scunthorpe DN16 2AQ This rapport purpose is to present our church activity in the past year and the goals achieved so far. The object of our CIO is to advance, for the public benefit, the Orthodox Christian Faith as preserved by the Patriarchate of Antioch in general for all people and the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of the British Isles and Ireland in particular. . By the Grace of God we had closed our first year since we have been declared as a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation) . Our organisation have tried and achieved so far the goals what we proposed to achieved until this moment but of course we still have a lot to do to cover them all. The charity trustees who manage the affairs of the CIO and exercise all the powers of the CIO done an excellent work to support financial, voluntary and moral our community. Among with other council parish members, they had a substantial role in the existence of this CIO for supporting Orthodox community in Scunthorpe area and not only and to promote spiritual growth and community engagement. Our trustees are: Fr Mihai Victor Cerghit – Priest in Charge (ex officio) Mrs Hilary Miranda -Treasurer Mrs Georgiana Tunsu -member of the board- Mrs Nicoleta Gilea- member of the board- Our church community is small, but by God’s grace with hard work and support will grow and become a trustable and supporting church charity in the area for all orthodox nationalities and all other people who are in physical and moral needs . ## **1. Services** In the past year our community services reached over 75 services. This includes **Sunday Holy Liturgy services** with an average of attendance per service of around 20adults and 10 children **Panikida** services for departed people. **Baptism services -** We had in the past year 20 baptisms where the people who wanted to be baptised, or to baptise their children benefited from our services and support. **Wedding services** - We had 4 weddings- after the young couple received the civil marriage they came and solicited our services and we officiated the Religious marriage. **Pilgrimage-** We have had made a pilgrimage to St Hybald church in Hybaldstone in September. We encouraged the people to participate every year to pilgrimage for exploring the benefits and the beauty of our faith and to promote spiritual growth and community engagement. We have had individual requests of prayers for sick people, new mothers and their babies On **Easter service** this year we had an attendance record of over 200 faithful people. As a priest my mission also includes visits in hospital, in people’s homes, emergency visits and support for elderly people and poor families. -funerals services for the people who need our support and services -Due to not having our own building it is more difficult to increase our activities for children and catechumens; to rent the room costs us £55 per session. ## **2.Education for children and adults** Due to limited time spend with the young people we encourage them to participate actively to our services. Also, we encourage them to come in the most important place from church -the Holy Altar where they can assist the priest in the service. The adults had been invited to attend inside the Holy Altar and learned to serve as servers for God. -We encourage the members of the church to participate actively in the life of the church’s live and being active in the choir. -During Christmas time we had a group of children who learned and deliver to all community Christmas Carols. We had new adults converted to our Orthodox faith who strongly support our church activities. ## **3.Financial rapport** The **income** for the financial year from 1 April 2024-31 March 2025 was - **£15.346** all money were raised from contributions and donations. ## **The expenditure** was **£8.856** ## -Rent **-£3.695** -Church needs **-£2.437(** candles, charcoals, items for altar, plastic bottles, Bishop visit etc **)** Insurance **-£281** Travel expenses **-£675** Priest Stipend support **-£1.020** As we are still a small community, we do not pay yet the Arhiodice share which is valuated at 15% of all income. ## **4.Legal Requirements** Being a registered Charity we have obligations which we have to honour and comply. Our CIO will put together all the financial reports and submitted them in the right time. Our safe guard officer is Mr Valetin Torcea who together with the board members and the priest will continue to observe and support our community Dbs. check for people involving activities with children and vulnerable people are in place. We also have; -Financial procedures policy -Risk assessment -Health and safety -Liability Insurance ## **5. Plans for next year** One of our major goals for next year is to be able to found a new place of worship and we work in this matter strongly close with the Church of England and her clergy. For the future we collect and save money to be able to buy our own building of worship where we would be able to expand our services and activities. We also intend to extend our services to reach out more people as we are a mixed nationality place of worship; many people from different countries could benefit and engage with our community. We as trustee, would like in the name of St Hybald’s Antiochian Orthodox Community to thank you all the donors, the volunteers and everybody else who support our church. Also, a big thank you to all, our Priest, trustees, Parish members of the council, choir, volunteers and all members of the church for their effort in supporting this community.
