2.Structure, Governance and Management
Animal FoodBank UK is governed by a Constitution adopted on registration as a CIO with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the provisions set out in the Constitution.
The Trustees are responsible for the overall management and control of the charity and meet regularly to review progress and ensure that the charity is operating within its objects and in compliance with statutory obligations.
New Trustees are provided with an induction covering the charity’s objectives, governance framework, and current activities. All Trustees are volunteers and receive no remuneration for their role.
3. Objectives and Activities
The charity’s objectives are:
The relief of financial hardship among people living or working in the UK by providing such persons with goods, which they could not otherwise afford through lack of means. The Charity works for the benefit of the public, to prevent or relieve the suffering of animals and to provide subsistence and nourishment for such animals who would otherwise face neglect due to poverty or financial hardship of their owners.

The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their duty under Section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit when carrying out the charity’s aims and activities.
During the reporting period, Animal FoodBank UK, worked to relieve hardship among pet owners in financial difficulty by distributing pet food and essential supplies through a network of volunteers and partner organisations. These activities directly further the charity’s aims for the public benefit by preventing animal neglect and supporting responsible pet ownership during times of economic strain.
4.Achievements and Performance
Between 18 June 2024 and 28 February 2025, the charity:

Distributed approximately 25,000 pet meals to owners experiencing financial hardship.

Supported other rescues and charitable organisations requiring assistance with animal food supply.

Maintained and expanded its volunteer network to ensure effective collection and distribution.
The Trustees consider this to represent good progress against the charity’s objectives during its first financial period.
5.Financial Review
All funds received during the period were applied directly in accordance with the charity’s objectives.
The Trustees have adopted a prudent approach to financial management and are satisfied that the charity remains financially stable at the end of the period.
The charity continues to rely on voluntary donations and in-kind support to deliver its services. The Trustees will continue to explore sustainable funding sources to ensure continuity of operations.
There were no significant reserves at year-end. No remuneration or benefits were paid to Trustees, and there were no related-party transactions requiring disclosure.
6.Plans for the Future
In the forthcoming financial year, the Trustees intend to:

Increase the volume of meals distributed to pets in need.

Strengthen partnerships with foodbanks, rescues, and community organisations.

Develop new fundraising initiatives to secure the long-term sustainability of the charity.

Continue to raise public awareness of the impact of financial hardship on animal welfare.
7.Risk Management
The Trustees have considered the major risks to which the charity is exposed, in particular those related to financial sustainability and the reliance on volunteer capacity. Appropriate steps have been taken to mitigate these risks, including close monitoring of expenditure and active volunteer engagement.
8.Trustees’ Responsibilities Statement
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and the Charities SORP (FRS 102). The Trustees confirm that, in preparing this report, they have:

Made judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent.

Ensured that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011 and the charity’s governing document.
9.Statement of Public Benefit
The Trustees confirm that they have complied with their statutory duty under the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit.
All activities undertaken during the period were directed toward achieving the charity’s stated objectives for the public benefit.
