## **Ampthill & Flitwick Good Neighbours Trustees’ Annual Report for the period from 18[th] June 2024 to 31[st ] March 2025**

## **Purposes:** 

The object of the CIO is to relieve the needs of the poor, sick, elderly or disabled residents of Ampthill, Flitwick and surrounding villages in particular but not exclusively by providing such services as transport, home visiting, home assistance, befriending and other services calculated to relieve their need. 

## **Activities:** 

Volunteers drive residents in need to doctors, hospital, dentist, opticians and hairdressing appointments. 

Volunteers collect prescriptions and shopping. 

Volunteers also befriend those residents socially isolated 

The direct benefits that flow from these activities are the breaking down of isolation, enhancing the independence and improving the quality of life of people who are poor, sick, elderly or disabled. 

## **Public benefit:** 

The scheme provides a safety net for our residents in need in Ampthill, Flitwick and surrounding villages: 

Keeping residents independent for longer, thus delaying the need for adult social care, through driving residents to appointments, collecting their shopping/prescriptions and carrying out small jobs in their homes/gardens. 

Reducing social isolation through befriending socially isolated residents. 

## **Achievements:** 

During the reporting have helped 102 residents in need, in the following ways transport to health (209 jobs), social transport to shopping, hairdressing etc (231 jobs), collection of prescriptions etc (16 jobs), indoor help (1 job) and befriending (46 jobs). In essence our activities have had a preventative effect in keeping residents independent and out of adult social care settings. 

The service provide by Ampthill & Flitwick Good Neighbours was delivered by up to 29 volunteers during this time period and managed by 4 trustees (Mark Smith, Gareth Mackey, Andrew Summerfield and Doreen Stoddart). Ampthill & Flitwick Good Neighbours has delivered these services to the local area since its inception in 2006. 



## **Finances** 

Our charity operates on minimal funding and during the period we have received grants from Central Bedfordshire Council, Ampthill Town Council and Flitwick Town Council. We are too small to have a reserves policy in operation, although we will review if circumstances change.
