The charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) foundation formed on 17 June 2024 and is governed by a constitution. 

## **Method of recruitment and appointment of trustees** 

The trustees of the charity are appointed by the members at the AGM. 

The trustees of the charity are appointed by the trustees at a duly convened meeting.

## **Objectives and activities** 

## **The charity's objects** 

To provide, maintain and promote the use of a village hall for the benefit of the public at large and the inhabitants of the parish of Bramhope in particular without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, nationality, race or political, religious or other opinions; the provisions of facilities  for recreation or other leisure - time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disablement, financial hardship or social and economic circumstances with the object of improving the conditions of life of the public at large and the in habitants of the parish. 

## **The charity's main activities** 

The charity has provided a space for local groups and individuals to use for sporting, education, social and leisure activities. 

## **Public benefit statement** 

In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit. 

## **Achievements and performance** 

Although the new CIO was registered in June 2024 the charity was not active until December 2024 when the assets of the Robert Craven Memorial Hall unincorporated charity (223028) were transferred to the CIO (1208681).  Since that date the CIO has taken over all the activities of the old charity. 

## **Financial review** 

The net receipts for the year were £51,912, all unrestricted in nature. 

## **Reserves policy** 

The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £51,912. 

The Trustees have adopted a reserve policy to keep a reserve of funds between £20,000 and £40,000 which they consider sufficient to cover running cost of the Hall for 6 months. 

The Trustees are aware that reserves are in excess of the stated policy however there was a refurbishment project planned which took place in May/June 2025, at a cost of £19,500.

## Hall CIO 

I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the accounts of the CIO for the period 17 June 2024 to 31 March 2025 which are set out on pages 5 to 8. 

## **Responsibilities and basis of report** 

As the charity trustees of the CIO you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act'). 

I report in respect of my examination of the CIO's accounts as carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act. In carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 

1 accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Charities Act; 2 the accounts do not accord with those records. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.

## **1 Accounting policies** 

## **Basis of accounting** 

The trustees have taken advantage of section 133 of the Charities Act 2011 and have prepared the accounts on a receipts and payments basis. 

## **Taxation** 

As a charity the organisation benefits from rates relief and is generally exempt from income tax and capital gains tax but not from VAT. Irrecoverable VAT is included in the cost of those items to which it relates. 

## **Fund accounting** 

All funds are unrestricted funds and are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity.
