## **Objectives and Activities** 

The objects of the CIO are: 

- 1) The preservation of health, including mental health, among children and young people living in Surrey and South East England through: 

   - a. The provision of individual counselling; and 

   - b. supporting the families and/or carers of such children and young people, in particular but not exclusively, by providing advice and guidance. 

- 2) To advance in life and help children and young people living in Surrey and South East England through: 

   - a. the provision of recreational and leisure time activities provided in the interest of social welfare to improve their conditions of life; 

   - b. providing support and other activities to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities to enable them to participate in social as mature responsible adults; and 

   - c. advancing education. 

The objects of the charity are to promote and protect the mental health and emotional wellbeing of children, young people and their families through the provision of counselling, early intervention and related support. 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The Matthew Hackney Foundation was registered as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) on 14 June 2025. 

The CIO was established to facilitate the conversion of the existing charitable trust, The Matthew Hackney Foundation (Charity No. 1146078), to a CIO structure. 

During the reporting period, the existing charitable trust remained the operational charity. All charitable activities, income, expenditure, assets, liabilities and contractual arrangements 



continued to be managed through the charitable trust while preparations were completed for the transfer. 

The transfer of operations from the charitable trust to the CIO took e�ect on **1 September 2025** . 

The CIO had no trustees' meetings requiring formal decisions during the period other than those necessary to establish the organisation and facilitate the transfer of operations from the charitable trust.

## **Activities and Achievements** 

The CIO did not undertake any operational activities during the reporting period. 

No charitable services were delivered directly by the CIO, as all activities continued to be undertaken by the existing charitable trust pending completion of the conversion. 

## **Financial Review** 

As the CIO was not yet operational and had not assumed the activities of the predecessor charitable trust, no income was received, no expenditure incurred and no assets or liabilities were held during the period

## **Plans for Future Periods** 

From 1 September 2025, following completion of the transfer from the charitable trust, the CIO became the operating charity and continued the charitable work of The Matthew Hackney Foundation. 

The charity will continue to provide early mental health support for children, young people and families through counselling, early intervention and preventative services. 

## **Statement of Trustees' Responsibilities** 

The trustees elected to prepare accounts for the short period from registration to 31 August 2025 in order to align future reporting periods with the transfer of operations from the predecessor charity. 

The CIO was established as the successor organisation to The Matthew Hackney Foundation (Charity No. 1146078) 



in accordance with applicable charity law and regulations.
