Aims and Purpose

MOSAF aims to advance the education of the public in the subject of history. This is particularly, but not exclusively, related to the history of enslavement and abolitionism focusing on Deptford.

Objectives and Activities

MOSAF has developed a specialist walking tour of Deptford relating to the historical connections between Deptford and the transatlantic trafficking of enslaved Africans as well as abolitionism. It has also recruited several volunteers to carry out these walking tours.

MOSAF has also shared its research findings with the community engagement officer for the Greater London Authority, Dr Melissa Bennett, as part of a new learning network for community organisations to use.

MOSAF was requested by the Mayor of London’s office to provide feedback on the intended new memorial artwork to commemorate the people enslaved in the Transatlantic trade.
